I don't think Brunson wanted to stay under Luka shadow and it was clear that he was better as the primary ball handler than off ball next to Luka.  The real mistake on the Mavs side was to not max extend him when they (supposedly) had the chance.  He would have been a significant asset (although he never would have reached the value he has now).  In that scenario we maybe come out of it with Quickley, Grimes and our first back instead of watching him walk for nothing.

Who knows, maybe in that scenario we are the ones that end up trading for OG.

My very unpopular opinion...

Luke had 6 years of doing wanted he wanted with the ball.  Can we stand to pass up talent because Luka refuses to lower his usage?

Brunson was good next to him but didnt want to stay because of usage.   Ky looks good next to Luka.  My opinion is that post-Ky, Luka should be telling possible recruits youre going to get plenty of ball control and I will play off-ball for you...EXCEPT in crucial Playoff games where my wizardry must be employed.

We just cant not have guys wanting to come here because of usage.  Its a thing.   Dejaunte would be awesome next to Luka...but I doubt he looks her first unless there is a bag waiting.   He is going to look at other spots over Mavs.
