Why most of the Western Conference is heading for an unhappy off season so says Hollinger.

Did he say even one accurate thing about Dallas? 2 max contracts? Need to win both Sacto games to avoid play in? Poor defense but puncher’s chance? As if aging stars and must make conf finals to be successful applies to this newly minted team. I hate Hollinger. For some dumb reason I click and start reading. But it’s been a long while since I read a piece of his to the end.

How is this controversial? The games against the Kings are syllogistically the only ones we can control. I certainly don't trust this team to win all of the rest of the games they should win - the Mavs are built in Luka's image, and Luka relaxes extravagantly when he sees a sub-.500 team on the other side of the court. If they split the Kings couplet, then they need help from other teams to avoid the play-in, period. If they lose both, they likely cement themselves into the play-in. If they win both, they have a fairly strong chance of avoiding it.

They might need to win both is quite different from they need to win both. Sure, it’s only a little misleading. But so is 2 max contracts. So is mentioning that most of their remaining games are on the road without adding either that the Mavs have been really great on the road this year or that their remaining schedule is weakest in the entire league and almost all non-playoff teams. It was a make-shit-up-about-Dallas to include them piece.

Boston Celtics this year.

Boston Celtics:

— Best offense of all-time
— Top 3 net rating of all-time
— Highest win percentage since '17 Warriors

Larger gap between them and the 2 seed than there is between the 2 seed and the 8 seed.

So best offense. Net Rating up there with the Jordan Bulls.

Why do they still not feel like the favorites?

Because of their recent playoff history and their player leadership, and because of not having Smart anymore. They may be too good to fail, but if they win this year, Jrue will have a lot to do with it. It's certainly not the other guys. Tatum keeps getting mentioned in MVP conversations. Just no. He's not nearly enough of a statistical percentage for his team for him to win that, and certainly not in the same class of player as Embiid, Jokic, Giannis, and Luka (and probably not even SGA).

Not to mention that we all know that KP is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay overdue for an injury. I would consider it a team trainer miracle to end all team trainer miracles if he gets through the rest of the season and the playoffs without a major hiccup.

Sources: The NBA is shutting down the G League Ignite team after this season, canceling the development squad of elite draft prospects and veterans that launched in 2020.

He's incredibly lucky it was just a bone bruise. The video made it seem like his entire knee buckled.

Glad he's okay though

Zach Lowe's weekly 10 Things.

For all my hopes for John Jenkins, Mo Bamba and Marvin Bagley III (he´ll still be a useful 18 MPG roleplayer on a contender one day  Big Grin )  I remember before Edwards even started college I said: this whole draft class of 2020 might be sh*t, but if you guarantee me the #1 pick, I´ll throw the whole season from game 1 to 82, cauce he´s the perfect running mate for Luka.

They would have been like Tatum/Brown on steroids. Undecided

Rockets have won 8 straight (with Senguin being out for a lot of that) and are a game and a half back of Golden State. Good for them. Nice to see someone challenge GS (and LAL a little) for that last spot since Utah has dropped out.

Speaking of Utah, I will be curious to see what they do this offseason. They have had two pretty good stretches the last two year but ending up finishing both years in bad stretches. Probably the best strategy, but pretty disappointing. Especially when they have one really good player. Do they continue the slow build or look to power surge their re-building process this summer? Tough for Utah to attract free agents though.....although I hear Luka could be interested Smile

With a few more tweaks, the Rockets are going to be a problem next year. I knew Udoka was going to get the best out of all that young talent. But they're way ahead of schedule.
