AROUND the NBA: Pat Bev Suspended 4 Games Next Season| PHX Fires Vogel
I wonder if Memphis would consider trading Smart now? I am not really sure I understand the status of their 2024 pick and how much sense it makes for them to completely tank the season.

MEM has their own pick. Right now it would be #6.

(They do have a swap possibility, that in theory could be used to improve their pick, but the other team is PHX so it's a meaningless swap opportunity.)

Thanks. I wasn't sure if Memphis made any swap in the Smart trade, as the text from RealGM future picks wasn't really clear to me.

So it would make sense for them to tank the season as much as possible

I see what you did there!

the way we lost to the Jazz was really disappointing....losing to them was not. They are on a heater now. Besides blowing out the Mavs over the past two weeks they have beat Miami, Philly, and Milwaukee. Nice turnaround from them. They looked like an also ran just a few weeks ago. Now they have legit playin hopes.

Their coach is really good. Ainge should fire him, as he just doesn't want to understand his job is to get as many losses as possible, not wins Smile

Yes, I think Ainge should fire him after next season. When Kidd’s contract is up.

Love it.  I wish we had a coach who would occasionally get angry.  I hope this draws some more attention to the absurd officiating disparities that occur in Lakers games.  I've watched the NBA for a long time and even the Michael Jordan Bulls never received this level of officiating assistance.  It's absurd and disgusting.

This is why I expect that Luka will be a Laker one day. That's the only way he'll get the calls he deserves.

Kawhi Leonard has signed a contract extension with the Clippers, team says.

@wojespn
The Clippers extension talks with Paul George are ongoing and organization continues to want to get both stars lined up on longer-term contracts, sources tell ESPN. For now, Leonard has agreed on a new deal in a season that he's been healthy and highly productive.

Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard signed a new three-year, $152.4 million contract extension, keeping him under contract through the 2026-27 season, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Massive fully guaranteed, long-term commitment in LA.

They look really good.    Question is it now or right before the playoffs that Leonard gets hurt and Harden goes 4-16 in a playoff game.

Seriously, they have had a team that should have at least had a finals appearance by now.   Something always appears to pop up.    Tough team to play if healthy though.

Now that Kawhi has signed the extension, he can go on sabbatical, I mean the injured list.

And Eric Spoelstra is now the highest-paid coach in the league, surpassing Pop and Monty Williams, at 8yrs $120 million. Can't say he doesn't deserve it. Clearly, one of the best to do it.

It's hard to admit given our Finals against the Heat back in 2006 and 2011 when Spoelstra was a baby, but yes, he has become one of the very best coaches in the league. Meanwhile, we're stuck with Kidd.

So supposedly the Jazz are the best team in the league now after beating the Nuggets last night.

Bulls continue their good play minus Lavine. It is really, really, really early but just going off the eye test Whitmore going 20 should give a lot of fan bases regret. He does not look like the 20th pick. Still only 19 too.

Warriors get blown out again.

Thunder keep winning. They have laid very few duds that the Mavs seem to have every 4 games. Very telling imo.

LaVine is back for a couple of games now and started for Bulls against the Rockets. 25 points, 13 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals.

Thunder have been one of the healthier teems so far this season. Mavs were really unlucky with all the injuries.

Lavine has been back for 3 games now. The Jazz are finally healthy, Clarkson, Markkanen, Kessler have all missed time. They've won 11 out of 13. Only Boston has been better. Utah isn't a bad team as shown last night after beating the Nuggets for the 14th out of 15 times in Salt Lake.  One of their worst losses this year. The Pelicans are playing well too. Blew out the Kings by 33 on the road and stomped the Warriors heading into Denver next. The West standings are really tightening up. Only 4.5 games between the 1st and 7th seeds.
