They may not be a contender, but they are part of a group of teams i absolutely do not want to see in a playoff series as a Mavs fan. Denver and Minnesota are the other two.
They have a ton of length and size. Valanciunas, Ingram, Zion, Murphy, Herb Jones. Those guys are all long and athletic. Things the Mavs lack and i feel they would completely expose our weaknesses in a playoff series. I really like their young guards Daniels and Hawkins.
Speaking of Hawkins, he was drafted 4 spots after we drafted Lively. I love Lively, but i've got to admit i wondered a few times what he would look like on this team. He reminds me of Richard Hamilton with a better outside shot. Or a more athletic Danny Green. He's really smooth. He's going to be a consistent scorer for a decade in this league.
But Lively seems an exceptional pick at the position. You won´t always get the best guy and so far Lively looks like the best guy.
No disrespect to Josh Green, but that whole 2020 draft. F`n hell.
The failed coup to land Haliburton for Brunson looks even worse now. If Carlisle wants to move up in the draft for a rookie, something is going on.
Bey at #19, Maxey at #21, Quickley at #25, McDaniels at #28, Bane at #30.
It wasn´t just the Green pick. #31 and #36 were even worse. Could have easily moved for McDaniels or Bane like the Wolves/Grizzlies did. Terry clearly had mental issues and Cuban 100% picked him, cause Bill Simmons hyped him up to be the next Trae Young.
This whole 2023 draft êxperience was like eating at a Michelin star restaurant, when we were used to eating from the dumpster behind McDonald´s for a decade.
