Interesting info emerging from the talks on a new CBA, and it underscores a truth that is very overlooked.
The situation -- it may be the PLAYERS who are going to say "no" to letting players enter right out of HS. In this case, the NBA's rank-and-file -- which makes up the vast majority of that voting bloc -- really doesn't want to have more competition added for the too-few jobs that exist. I would think the NBA generally would want a longer runway to the NBA too, so that players can be anticipated by fans from having performed elsewhere previously, and bring some star appeal before they ever arrive.
The truth -- The CBA has rules that have to appeal to a wide variety of groups. Star players, so-so players, big-market owners, small-market owners, and agents, they all have a seat at the table. There are a lot of chefs in the kitchen to satisfy.
The argument in the NBA anymore isn't about how much money the players will get paid. That's generally already settled. Instead, it's how to divide that financial pie, from one player to another. That makes for unexpected dynamics, when they are arguing over the rules that make that happen.
