SUMMER LEAGUE: Gm 5 84-95 loss, JH 15 pts, 3 ast, 3 rbd, 7 TO

That behind the back and fade-away move is what is lacking in THJ. Sure THJ can do it too but Hardy has the better handles and the willingness to make that move.

I'm looking at Hardy as the eventual THJ replacement. And I'm counting on Hardy to get significant minutes in the regular season.

Dude, you literally compared them. One reminded you of the other. Apples to apples.

I like what I hear so far about Hardy being a gym rat and all but "best case" seems to be over looked.  I agree, if he translates to OJ Mayo we should be happy with the outcome but that should also curb our expectations.

A 2nd round hitting should also remind us what was lost with Brunson.

OJ Mayo was a 16+ppg starter before he became a drug addict and stopped caring.

We should be lucky if Hardy became even half of what Mayo was.

Mayo was labeled as the next Lebron out of high school but his lack of explosiveness limited him in the nba and he was basically just another guy in the end.

Even in the summer and G league Hardy seems to struggle creating separation.

This would be great. Mayo didn't flame out because of talent, he flamed out because of off the court issues. If he didn't have those problems and actually had some semblance of a work ethic, he has a long career as an 20+ppg scorer on solid efficiency IMO. Brunson created no separation his rookie year too. Those handles and that mid range game didn't appear till well into the second season. Hardy has the handles to where you clean it up some, he can basically do exactly what Brunson did to create that separation, but he's taller and much much longer.

Also why are people talking about offering Lawson a contract after one summer league game? Guys have torched an entire summer league and been bums in the NBA. Even if he plays great the rest of the games I'd be sceptical. His college numbers are pretty meh.

One summer league game.   Not a great way to compare two players.

I never compared Brunson to Hardy, I mentioned how rare it is to get a legit player from a 2nd round pick like they did with Brunson.

I also might add, that nobody knew Brunson would turn out to be this good, inspite coming from a winning program like Villanova.

I don't think we should fret too much what Hardy will be.  Lets just enjoy it.   He is very likely to have a game where he goes 2-15 in this summer league.  That shouldn't change our opinions either.

There is a very good chance he is not a part of the standard rotation this year.   His time will probably be the following year...if that.

Lets enjoy the summer league.  It has been a while since we had a guy who at least had good upside/potential to root for in the summer.

God King was the best and Cuban was the worst.  At least we are consistent.

Chicago was blown out by the Knicks and Mavs killer Simonovic didn´t make a single FG. Made on FT. Doesn´t mean a lot because summer league performances can be very erratic but it´s not a good look for Wright and Bingham.

It’s not a good look at all and it also looks like the Knicks have hit it with Jericho Sims.

He was one of my targets I was hoping we would buy a late second on.  There were a few others.

I know centers are dinosaurs but I am a little disappointed we didn't fine a young developmental guy in last years draft or this years.   Maybe they have hopes for Moses Wright...I did too.  Game one of summer league was disappointing.  Strangely he played with none of the bounce he supposedly has.

I mean did he do anything near the basket that looked like this?

I am fine if our centers are not explosive leapers. They should at least be able to block out and defend. Against Chicago, both were lacking.

Wiseman will be another tool Kerr can get from the shed that's plug and play.  He looked pretty good for his 1st game in almost 2 years.

That’s the sad part. The fact that the Warriors even despite being a dynasty over the last decade have young players around their stars with much higher ceiling and potential than the Mavs. There is no excuse for that.

Look at Wiggins. A former #1. They get him because they go and sign D’Angelo. They knew D’Angelo might not be the best fit but went and signed him knowing they could move him.   Meanwhile the Mavs would only look at fit and cost and never sign a player like D’Angelo stating how his flaws make him unworthy of that contract.
