Respectfully, I think those saying Reddish-Bullock doesn't work have bad info (when I used their sites, both ESPN and fanspo approved the trade) or are looking at the wrong numbers/rules.
Dallas - trades Bullock (about 10M) and gets back Reddish (about 6M). No problem.
NY - trades Reddish (about 6M) and gets back Bullock (about 10M). Is that a problem? It fits in the 1.75x framework when trading away a player making less than 6.533M, if it qualifies.
To qualify? Teams who are not taxpayers are given 1.75x in taking back players in the same trade -- provided that at the end of the trade, they are still not taxpayers.
NY (per both ESPN and Spotrac) has a team salary of ~142.6M, which is ~7.5M below the tax line. So they will remain not taxpayers and can use the 1.75x as long as they don't increase their team salary in that trade by more than ~7.5M. In this case, it's an increase of ~4M, so no problem.
So NY can use the 1.75x in salary matching, which would allow them to swap Reddish for Bullock in a one-for-one, if they wish.
It's a CBA-legal trade. Whether it's a good trade for DAL is a different issue, of course.
