I'm not as pro-Simmons as I was the last time this topic came up, for two reasons:
1) he hasn't looked great in a general way, so far. Whether this is due to deep mental issues or just the reasonably expected rust from recent surgery and/or years without participation, I don't know. But, it's pretty concerning at the moment. He used to be one of the better Luka-defenders in the NBA, but the other night Luka was actually seeking him out and punking him.
2) Even on a team with Kyrie Irving, the Nets have started by playing him at PG. Now, I don't know if this choice was made because the coaches thought he was the best choice for that role, or if Simmons and his people refuse to consider any other role, but if it's the latter then he's just not a fit here in Dallas, playing with Luka.
His contract is significant enough to scare me. If his play doesn't improve, you're right back were you were with KP...maybe even a little worse off.
