Seems like Lakers just wanted a roster spot. I wonder why they chose to get rid of Rondo when they have guys like Trevor Ariza sitting on the bench barely playing.

Because Rondo sucks. Cleveland very likely just made a huge mistake letting a cancer like Rondo near their promising young guys

Maybe not. I'm sure Garland can learn a few things from him. He won't replace Rubio who was having a very good year and was a big reason for their improvement.

Ariza was pretty decent last year .. I think he came back from an injury recently .. I think he will be fine .. It is amazing how good some veterans who looked washed look when they are motivated .. Love / Iguadola / Bjelica / Porter (looks almost like a star) / Payton (was out of the league) etc

For all we know, many of the Laker players might be just as gettable as RR -- here, Rondo (being
a PG) filled the CLE big need at PG.

Oh I'm sure the Lakers would be more than willing to send their vets off given how miserable it's been. Question is are any of their players really worth the trouble?
Out of all of their vets, the only one that remotely interests me is Carmelo as a spark plug bench scorer. But even he is a "whatever" kind of guy.
LeBron really ran the Lakers out of assets in 4 years like he did with the Heat and Cavs except this time he can't just jump ship immediately.

Perhaps we should change the title "Lakers got prospects". Lakers got rights to some ancient picks that never made it to the NBA. Like Dallas would trade rights to Petteri Kopponen.
