That was after he agreed to a 4/$85 deal with Indiana.  Indiana made that trade because they didn't want to risk Milwaukee matching.

I wanted to offer a 4/$95 offer sheet to Brogdon.  He would've signed that higher deal with us.  Worst case, we wait and Mil matches.  We still could've signed Curry and Wright.

Key questions
- Will Powell start or come off the bench?
- If Powell comes off the bench will we see Barea?
- Is tonight the night to unveil Boban?
- Will Mavs start big with Wright/Doncic backcourt + Lee/DFS/THJ/Jackson? ... Or small with Brunson/Wright backcourt + Doncic?

This is huge game. We win this and we stay among the top teams. With next 8 games all winnable besides one or two that are not easy games. If we win this, 3-1 and I see us going 9-3 after 12 games. That has season long implications to get that great a start.

A 2-2 record on other hand brings us quiet down the table and halts the momentum a lot, even for some of the easier matchups that come up.

I think the best starting line-up would be
Wright
Curry
Luka
KP
Powell

Curry, Luka and KP provide massive spacing.

With Wright and Luka driving and KP and Curry on the wings teams will be hesitant to help off them.
Giving Powell room for lobs.
Maxi for Powell gives more shooting and D but Powell punishes teams for helping on drives with easy lobs.

There were numerous little things we blew but the good news is that all of our excellent play almost won anyway!

Would have been a tough pass in that much traffic. And DFS is pretty good with put backs. Looks to me like he made the right play, drew a foul, and got screwed by the refs.

We will never know, but who's to say Indiana doesn't pony up the extra 2.5 mil per year if the Mavs made that offer?

I would have liked to see the Mavs try. I don't think they believe Brogdon is a giant upgrade over Wright and they may have a point. I am happy with our signings so far. Mavs have of nice pieces around Luka, KP that uncle Ricky can play with. At some point Mavs might make one big move to get someone that can put this thing over the top. Adams is one guy, there are probably others. They may not need to do a deal this year. I am excited to see some more Rick experiments. I'd love to see Powell back in the starting lineup with Curry joining him.

Now THAT is an interesting stat. I always felt that the Mavs started slow after the half, but never had any confirmation till now. I didn't know you could separate eFG% into halves!

Now that there is evidence that the Mavs are starting the 2nd half like the 2nd worst team in the league, something has to be done about that inconsistency.

I wonder what Carlisle is doing (or isn't doing) that is failing to motivate this team to perform for the 2nd half. This has been a common theme since 2014 (I think?) where the Mavs are one of the poorest 3rd quarter teams. Always would lose huge leads or go down big and are forced to claw their way back in the 4th. Back then, everyone said it was because Dirk was slowing down, or something was flawed with team construction, and through the tanking years everyone said it was on purpose to lose games.

Well now its continuing, with multiple different rosters, and through the rosters the only constant is Carlisle.  I know the Mavs have always been a team to lose leads, but being the 29th ranked team in eFG for the 2nd half is TERRIBLE

Seth Curry and Powell?? Definitely mixing things up for this game. Surprised Wright isn't starting given how much of a positive he's been.

Jerking Wright around a lot, lucky he seems to be cool with it.
Seems weird that they need DFS to guard Murray instead of Wright.

Powell nearly posterized Milsap for his first play of the season

Good to see him back

Perfect for the Mavs that the worst first quarter team starts out 3/3

Curry 3 though!

Nevermind. Make it 5/6

What an absolutely terrible start.

DFS, what are you doing?

Also, I never put much stock in the whole second game of a back to back disadvantage, and the Nuggs are reminding me why.

DFS is not a SF , he can't not guard elite wings.  This line up is brutal to start the game.

BTW, is Delon Wright injured?  If not, why is he not on the court?
