To be clear, I think Kidd has figured this out, and the current lineup experimentation is just him trying to find a means to "load manage" Porzingis. Not a terrible thought.
But, the player and the team, to my thinking, aren't good enough yet to warrant taking their ability to play well with KP at center for granted yet. Even if that's the plan for the more important stretches of games after the All Star break and in the playoffs, there are still things that need to be taught/practiced/tweaked for the team to succeed, even with KP used properly. That's the difference between DAL/KP and LAL/Davis. That's the reason I wouldn't be approaching the season this way, even though I can understand the logic of what they're doing.
If depending on KP (the right way) is necessary to reach your destination but you don't feel like you can depend on KP (the right way) until you get there, that's a big problem.
