FA: THJ to DAL for 4 yrs/$74M
#21
IF they max the raises 4/72 equates to a $16.1 million starting salary
4/74 starts at 16.512

Fair value. I hope it's a declining contract if they can't find anything better to do with their cap space this year.

This also makes me think Dinwiddie and Dragic are less likely. I figured the report that THJ was no longer a priority was because they were bringing in a poor defender like one of those guys.

Can we please trade KP so we can start referring to the NY deal as the "THJ Trade"?  I need a new tag and 5th of vodka.

This is the 2nd deal where Woj is quoting a higher number than Shams.

72 vs 74 mil isn't an big deal. A little annoying if higher, but if anyone gets their underwear in a knot over this ya gotta relax.

I can't say I'm disappointed. That's a decent enough deal for THJ. Slightly a little discounted on what I would have thought actually.
We didn't make the cut but thanks for all the support!

Does the new contract (year 1) number ~$16.1 now replace the cap hold number, giving the Mavs even more cap space or will this signing be made official over the cap after all other moves are made?

It depends on how they want to operate... once they submit the contract it replaces, until then the cap hold is in effect -
My guess is IF they need space they submit the contract; until then they will keep the cap hold to keep them over the cap

Starter money.  We should just forgo the thought of being an offensive team.  Should have hired D'Antoni.

I was hoping it would be less, but expecting it to me more.  If he plays as well as he did last season I think he can be viewed as a trade asset at that salary, or at least a non-albatross that can be included in a trade discussion without being laughed at.

Did we require Dad’s presence a minimum number of games?  Joking.    Sort of.
