The TEAMS may prefer losing, but the individual players are still trying to establish a rep in this league. So you end up with what you saw last night.

So when I trade DP for belly button lint, I can take Montrezl Harrell into the TPE.  He supposedly is available and has been playing well.  Give Washington a SRP for their trouble?  I think Chriss and Harrell could handle the load.  This assumes nothing better can be done with the TPE.

I just wonder why Harrell wears out his welcome everyone he seems to go. He's a fantastic energy big that can score in bunches. I don't watch him enough given he played for the Fakers and Floppers.

He is not my favorite player either but I would like to see if Luka/JB would work well with him.  If it clicks, I can come around.  I am not sure of his defense but it has to be as good as Powell.  I think his offense is better than DP's.

I like this proposal a lot. THJ, Bullock and FRP for McCullom and Nance.

I'dlove Trez here. He'd be back to his 6MOTY playing with a great PnR handler like Luka. Also, I know peoople don't like him very much here, but Dinwiddie is available....

I think that is fair.  What are your plans for JB since he’s likely getting sent back to the bench in this scenario?

Yeah, that is the problem with the McCullom trade. Is Brunson satisfied as 6th man? He would still get 30 minutes per game. Is CJ satisfied as 6th man? If not, I am not sure it would be a show stopper for me. I think I would call Knicks for that 23 pick and young asset and work from there. Or even run the season to see how it works risking losing Brunson for nothing. But I think the team would be seriously good with this upgrade.

It may be a trade you make after you re-sign Jalen.  It may be dirty, but it is what it is.   Although who would finish games for you....that is where it could be a problem for either CJ or Jalen.

As far as that Portland trade, I would be interested.   I am just now sure why Portland would do it.   Maybe if Hardaway went to a third team?  Tough to do now as he may be out for the year though.

First, this team looks like a sieve without KP protecting the rim. Powell only managed 13 min against one of the worst teams in the league? Lou Dort bulldozed everyone like he's prime Bonzi Wells? Has KP been so good that his impact can turn a rag tag group of role players into a top-5 defensive team? Or does his absence mean he must be traded? Regardless, Dallas desperately needs a paint presence on defense.

Next, this team just has no scoring off the bench without THJ. Granted, Bullock managed an efficient 23 last night but he's just a shooter, a career < 14 pts per 40 guy. Dallas desperately needs some scoring punch off the bench but with no time table for THJ's return I have no idea if they'll be aggressive at the deadline.

If you base it on this game (which you are not doing), the Mavs need a massive shake-up.  I still tend to think that if they were able to add a decent shot creator/scorer to Brunson and Luka or a really good scorer to Luka by trading Brunson.....AND a solid rim protector and rebounder and hopefully rim runner......this team could compete at a high level.   We just do not have much in trade assets....most trades seem to plug one hole and open up another.  The one trade I see is the White/Poetl trade that does seem to work.   I also like trying to get Robinson, Toppin, and Quickly from the NYK in a Brunson and maybe someone else (of lesser value) type of deal.

They save a ton of money, but I agree THJ is a type of player they need the least, unless they would also be moving on from Powell. I don't think we have the assets to send him to third team.

I wonder how many other players make $4m or less and log as many minutes as the God King.  Certainly he's the problem with the team and not other $60m+ is terrible contracts.

He isn´t the problem. Problem is that the Mavs are once again running him into the ground. Same for Maxi. Would love to reduce both of their minutes and find a spot for another big wing. Otherwise we will be back here in april/may and wonder why DFS and Maxi cannot guard Kawhi for 40+ minutes and also shoot 40% from 3.

Agreed.  Even with overtime, 43 minutes is absurd.  Absurd liking pointing out a bad game from one of your lowest paid players is the issue with the team.

Our highest paid player has logged just over 1,000 minutes for us this season.
DFS did that by game 31 and is currently sitting at 1,642 minutes.
Our second highest player has logged 1,245 and is lost for the season.
Luka has logged 1,302 minutes for us this season.
JB has logged 1,613 minutes.

The burden of minutes on our team is going to two of our lowest paid players.

Can we trade our 22 FRP straight up after we made the pick with the knicks for our 23FRP?
We would have all our picks back for the right trade in the offseason…

Seems a little too good to be true.  That is basically a first and (mildly) negative assets.  I figure CJ is probably worth at least a first?  I will be surprised if we land CJ without sending KP (assuming that even interests them).

To Dan's point, I think if you are trading for CJ, you almost have to move Brunson.  In this case, maybe for your pick so you can send 22 to Portland.
