I can't believe this is the case. It appears to me that the trade is largely what Nico said it was - it brought them more flexibility and a playmaker at the appropriate position.
This wasn't a deal where you choose Dinwiddie over Dragic. This was deal where you get to trade KP, get an acceptable playmaker and known commodity, and solve a contract issue. Your second option was to keep KP and try to wait and buy out Dragic in a competitive market.
It sounds like the first option is a smarter choice.
