Blake is off by $100,000 per year, no? I thought that’s what the resident capologists taught us here.

Totally agree, as long as its not costing us a first, Brunson or Maxi.
I don’t understand how some fans are so quick to flip Maxi for lesser players. Maxi > Markkanen

Yep, times a 100.  It just amazes me to see people actually suggest with a straight face that to trade him for Davis Bertans and his lamb chops.

Or my personal favorite, "yeah, his offense is great, but his defense sucks, so let's trade him for Buddy "They don't pay me to play D" Hield and Marvin "which way did he go" Bagwell"... So we trade him for two guys who's defense on ANY YEAR is markedly worse than KP's worst year....

BOGGLES the mind.  But overbiased hate can talk you into a lot of crazy things.

Can go in both directions. All of us are biased in some way or the other. Rose colored glasses are a thing. Especially on a Mavs fan board.
The point about trading KP for lesser players or even a salary dump was not only about the on court performance. Injury concerns and the contract situation played a role as well. A trade for Bertans or Hield would have created another 10-20m salary slot.
With the Mavs operating over the cap that´s not an option anymore. Now any potential KP trade needs to bring back a package that upgrades the rotation. Just talking about roster construction the perfect time to trade KP was prior to free agency. Mavs did not do it. Maybe they want to give it another try with a new coach. Maybe they didn´t receive any acceptable offers.

I think the 2 bpg will be your downfall. League is getting more perimeter orientated every single year. KP probably needs to finish top 5 in bpg to make it.

I think that was the easiest of the 3 to get. He’s gonna be a block machine next year! While games are being pushed more to the perimeter, there’s always gonna be play at the rim.

I'd give up a Brunson as the sweetener.  It would be a huge loss for us because we already have no depth but you'd be exchanging a year of Brunson for three years of LM.  I can't say I'm a huge fan of LM but if the MBT love him, that seems like a good use of the Brunson chip.

I'd trade WCS, Burke, and Josh Green for Lauri Markkanen at about 13M/year.

Then, try and find a way trade KP for Ben Simmons.

I'm in favor of literally any chain of events (outside of moving Luka) that ends with Ben Simmons here in Dallas.

I like KP a lot and hopes that he succeeds in his NBA career, but I am worried about him being healthy. He looks injury prone to me.

My Ben Simmons idea comes from me thinking that the Mavs need a defensive superstar next to Luka who is an offensive superstar. Luka leads the team in offense while another superstar leads the team in defense. I like that idea.

Moreover, Kidd who has the experience of having a similar mentality with Simmons where he thinks he can impact the game with his playmaking rather than scoring may guide Simmons to becoming better in some way like how Kidd improved as a three-point shooter. Maybe Kidd can have a positive impact with Simmons.

Philly has literally given Simmons everything he wants, and only asked for ONE thing in return. Even becoming league-average at shooting would elevate him to actual superstar status, but he refuses to do it. He either can't or won't, and either one is damning for any hopes of him becoming a usable player in the postseason.

Simmons' flaws - - refusal or fear of shooting, is the reason he is available in trades. The team who will trade for him will have to have some hope that they can somehow convince Ben to improve on that front. That is a given I think.

So he isn´t an "actual" superstar. I would still take him over any player not named Luka on the current Mavs roster.
His boxscore numbers remind me of a more efficient Jason Kidd. 14/7/7 in the regular season. 12/8/9 in the playoffs. The "worst" version of Simmons averaged 10/6/9 in the series against the Hawks. Holding the opposing superstar to less than 40% from the field and having an incredible +19.6 on/off rating in the playoffs. Including a +4.1 on court rating in the series where he was "unplayable". The 76er did not lose the series when Simmons was on the floor. They lost it when Thybull and Howard were on the floor. In the worst case scenario together with Simmons. That´s on Doc Rivers.

Redick mentioned that he will make his decision in the next 2-3 month. Won´t be on any training camp roster. Sounded like he will take a look around the league and join the team with the best chances to win it all. I think that ends all resign or sign&trade options for the Mavs.

Try something better. Obviously bad but not even among the top 5 worst 76ers moments in the series. Embiid turning it over and gifting the ball to Gallinari in the last minute was way worse but somehow everyone is ignoring it. That was the crucial moment of the game. Down 4. Could turn it into a one possession game. Instead the Hawks extend the lead to 6 and the 76ers need to foul.
