And judging by the reputation of the scouting firm for taking a deep dive into the organization, it can also be part of a larger effort to fix the internal team. Heaven knows they could use a good housecleaning.
No matter what, I'm guessing there's already a short list of candidates who are all busting their asses gaming out roster building ideas. That's probably the biggest interview conversation anyway. It's not like an experienced GM candidate is going to make it through the interview process, roll into the team on day one, and say "ok -- who plays here again?".
