As a rational fan I would be a 2. Having capspace to chase John Collins would give me hope and I also believe KP's trade value will likely be greater this summer. So rationally I feel like waiting is likely the best thing long term.

That's pretty close to where I am, too.

I know the popular retort to questions like this is to ask "who's available for the cap space, anyway?" But, I just feel like we're too quick to dismiss the idea that unforeseen possibilities arise all the time. Even if it's not Collins, I feel like there will be something that makes sense to shoot for, if they decide to go that way.

I also feel like the play-in tournament has drastically clouded the trade market. I think there are fewer sellers out there and more buyers to drive up the prices. By comparison, I believe free agency might be the better way to go. Since I couldn't care less about Johnson and I'm lukewarm (at best) on Richardson, I can get behind the idea that cap room can be attained with little to no pain, especially if there's a chance to move Powell when summer trading commences. I'd even be willing to part with THJ if the right target was interested, though I'd have to tender my resignation to President Biden (with regret).

Can't be disappointed if you have no expectations and I don't expect the MBT at the trade deadline with the outside chance of a fairly minor move.

Seriously though if KP starts to play some defense and JB continues his improvement, this team is pretty good.  (oh and Luka keeps shooting the three over 40 percent)

10. And you already mentioned the reason. I don´t see any combination of free agents that is better than RIchardson + THJ + whatever the Mavs can add in a Johnson trade.
Leftovers, injury prone former allstars (Mavs already have one) and RFA. I really don´t like the options. It probably won´t stop the Mavs from doing it anyway. Rinse and repeat. Mavs enter free agency with max capspace. Who will be the next Wes Matthews/Harrison Barnes?

Dear Rick,

Bey needs 10-15 minutes per game at a minimum.

Love,

Everyone

Eight games between now and the TDL. Interesting to see how the board feels if DAL goes 6-2 during this stretch.
Only B2B, tonight and tomorrow. everything else is at least 1 day rest.
2 games with LACs (in DAL), 2 with POR (in POR). One @DEN. SAS, OKC and MIN are the rest.
6 of the 8 are with teams just ahead in the standings. Come out strong and DAL could end up above the play-in flurry.

Wouldn't be disappointed at all.   I mean, I guess they should trade James Johnson's expiring, but I doubt that gets much in return that really moves the needle.   The Mavs aren't beating the Lakers or Nets in a 7 game series  with the names being thrown around.     I'll be more disappointed if the Mavs sell KP for 30 cents on the dollar or take on Kevin Love's horrible contract because they had to "do something".

First year in a long time I’ll be just fine without a move. This team needs more time together. KP, JRich both need to establish their spots. Green and possibly Bey need court time. Maxi needs to have the harsh case of COVID well behind him.
If there is a move, I’ll only be happy if it is a good move for the weaknesses we have and at least a fair trade, if not an unbalanced one leaning towards the Mavs.
