Orl can then look for a taker for Isaac and see what they can get.

Thanks, man. Totally unfamiliar with him, and was straight up confusing him w/someone else, I think.

I don't know if Collins and Vuc is a great defensive pairing? I would probably want to do one deal or the other. I would be interested in a Vuc/Fournier deal for KP. I think Mavs would try to line up contacts for that 2 year window to have just Luka on his RFA max in 2023, then reshuffle. Not saying it's my favorite idea but I would at least consider it.
Starters would be Luka, Rich, DFS, Maxi, Vuc and then key bench players would be Brunson, THJ, & Fournier. Vuc is a much more reliable scorer and rebounder than KP. Mavs would likely have best offense in the league with those 8 but still be able to play defense.

I trust Rick to figure out the Collins, Capela pairing more than ATL's head coach. Also Rick would not feel obligated to close with Capela. More likely Maxi would be the 2nd big next to Collins in the closing lineup.

Every single discussion we have here leads me back to the same conclusion: KP is a dead end. We're trying to fit pieces in around him like he's Dirk - trying to cover for his weaknesses and preferences. Only, he's nowhere remotely in the same class as Dirk on the floor. Sooner or later, everyone is going to agree, I think, even though I hope I'm wrong.
Ya I think KP is going to flash but ultimately be this guy we want to be a star that just comes up short. He is not an efficient offensive player. That being said he does things defensively that are pretty handy but has been inconsistent there as well. I have more confidence that he regains his defensive skills bc those are related to him getting back into better physical shape. His offense should improve but he is going to be streaky as a shooter. Good enough to be our 2nd or 3rd best starter but lowers the Mavs ceiling to just under a contender even if everything goes well.
Like I am fine with KP, I could see him getting better. I don't think he's a bust or anything like that but I am very open to a trade if the right deal comes along.

Taking another look at todays opponent. I am not really sure what the Pelicans want in return for Ball. Win now pieces? Picks?
Johnson + Terry (would also do Green if that´s what it takes) + future 1st --> Ball + Hart
Pelicans cash in on both RFA. Mavs could add a few 2nds but other teams (Bulls, Magic) could easily beat that offer. Certainly not a win now package for New Orleans but some solid rebuilding pieces.
I saw some suggestions from Pelicans fans that really liked Kleber as a 3&D big next to Zion.
Kleber + 2nds --> Ball
I would prefer the first deal. The frontcourt rotation is a weakness and losing Kleber would hurt a lot. He is the one guy that can play next to all other bigs or wings. On the other hand. That´s the reason why other teams might be interested.

If you're giving up KP for Collins, you have to get some other moveable pieces back, because now you need a center as well as an additional playmaker. That might involve a third and even fourth team as some have suggested.
KP and Collins together is a nice dream if your name isn't Killer Left, but I just don't see it as a reasonable possibility. At this point, obtaining Collins and one or two other key pieces likely means that all of our big-minute guys outside of Luka are gone by the trade deadline, and that it's a completely lost season (you're welcome, Knicks), but hopefully with a brighter future.
Edit: to clarify, I retract my KP + Brunson for Collins + Capela proposal because 1) Publicly announcing Collins's availability will spark a bidding war, and 2) as noted above, I underestimated Capela's value to the Hawks, with the result that any such trade would involve us also shoving in more sweeteners than we could afford (as I've said, still need a playmaker!). Moreover, if Collins and Capela is an issue there, why bring it here?
I've got a gut feeling that Atl. is not looking to take back long-term salary unless it's a surefire long-term fit.
Seems to me that they did such a great job of acquiring young talent over a short 3-4 year period and now they have big decisions over the next 3 years.
21/22 - Collins 22/23 - Trae, Hueter 23/24 - D. Hunter 24/25 - Oko (who kows)
It is very possible that they could have 3 max players the next 3 years.
If I were them and I thought I had 2 of my max cornerstones in Trae and Hunter with one not due until 23/24, I might try to fill as many gaps as possible (back up PG, Collins contribution, defense to support Trae) on reasonable/controllable contracts (i.e. like they did with Capella, Gallo, Bog).

I know there is an element of chance in all these trade scenarios. No guarantee things will turn out like we expect. I'll admit to some conservatism in my willingness to take chances. That said...
Trading Maxi and DFS leaves a huge defensive hole that I'm not sure any of the trades address.
Trading Maxi and THJ take away 2 of our most reliable outside scorers. At least they are ones that Luka (remember him?) has confidence in and everyone want's Luka to not take on so much of the load, right?
Trading KP leaves a huge hole in the middle. He actually appears to be coming around then we trade him and I haven't seen anything to address that hole. Vuk was mentioned, but is he a solution?
I'm not saying don't do anything, but these are huge changes in the middle of the season at a time when the team is trying to get together and find out just how good they can be. Which, IMO, is a heck of a lot better than anyone is giving them credit for.
Now, if I can just find that snow shovel....

Just had a thought? We play ATL. Collins plays well against us for the second time. Rumors come out that ATL is seeing what his trade market looks like. Did Donnie already have a convo with ATL and now ATL is shopping his offer to other teams?

Not writing off anyone's career already but I'm pretty confident if we had Maxey or Quickley to include in any of these packages, it would be a MUCH stronger package.

Not really. Both would be behind Doncic and Brunson in the rotation. Only playing garbage time minutes. They have more value because they could showcase their skills in the last few month. That would have never been the case in Dallas.

My take is a team called and Atl did not hang up immediately but said no at the end if the call...now that phone call happening was relayed to Amick...
Josh Green is a top 5 Mavs player...

All that and we keep Brunson, DFS, THJ, and Maxi? Sign me up.
Only one superstar with Lowry entering his twilight, but a well-built team around Luka.

Collins was -35 tonight with 9 points and 6 rebounds. How did we beat the Spurs short handed?

They played without White and Murray and still had Aldridge in the starting lineup

Mavs need to just get Gallo for a non top-7 rotation player and call it a day. Easy peasy.

Gallo for Johnson, Green and 2 2nds is about as much as i would offer. That’s a big financial commitment for a bench big. I don’t think he would start over Maxi based solely off Maxi having better D
