Barton is a poor man version of what we are talking about as a third man. He can create, he can shoot, he is ok defensively. He is not happy atm in Denver, so they might feel pressured to trade him to get at least something before he opts out. Denver will be also very close to tax line next season so a little saving would help.

Who says no?
So Draymond in his debut scored no points and got abused on the defensive end in the 18 minutes he played. Why are Mavs fans so desperate to trade for other teams terrible contracts/players?
Draymond is shell of his former self. And is only a big name player that provides very little substance.

To be fair. It was his first game coming back from a foot injury and he himself admitted that he is not in game shape. That said. He looked like a shell of his former self last year as well.
Playing out of position and banging in the paint against bigger guys takes a toll on the body. In a smaller sample sizes we already saw how Tucker or RoCo declined as the season progressed. Can only imagine that it is a lot worse for Draymond. Five regular seasons plus playoff runs. Combining for nearly 100 games each season. Playing at least 10-15 minutes (probably 25+ in the playoffs ) at center each game. All of that in a 6-6/230 body. Meaning that Luka is actually bigger than Draymond.
I am not sure if he is done for his career. Maybe he just needed a long break to recover. I would take him for free if the Mavs really cannot find anyone else. Johnson and Powell for Draymond. Bring back Richardson and THJ. Obviously not my prefered option.

I don’t think that’s realistic, which is part of why I haven’t been interested in trading for him or targeting him in free agency. I think he‘ll either be overpaid or very unhappy by this time next year.
It's hard to predict at this point. Like is he going to play at an all-star level all season? Well then sure that can get him paid. I want to see more of a sample size, I do think injury concern will depress his value some. Hayward's deal was totally nuts so anything is possible I suppose.

Hopefully anywhere but the Mavs.

Johnson + Hardaway for Tobias Harris at the deadline (if Philly goes for it),
then re-signing JRich over the cap.
That's the way to optimize the payroll and get the most out of our current situation. Letting go of the non-tax payer MLE of 10 million$ to have 19 million$ cap space (if we intend to keep JRich) while letting go WCS doesn't make sense.

I was for that in the off season (when most here were worried about his contract). Harris is playing fantastic through 7 games and Philly looks great. I doubt they do anything that big while having the kind of success they are having.

Ya I agree. If they move off of Harris they still need a good player in return and chances are with most trade ideas they will get a worse player than Harris so why trade him?

what about Marvin Bagley? I'd give up a 2nd rounder and one of the vets for him.... like Powell

Problem with Bagley is that his value is so low right now the Kings are almost obligated to hold onto him and hope to rejuvenate him.
Any potential Bagley deal right now would almost certainly end with the Kings getting absolutely fleeced. Bagley hasn't shown to be a superstar. He's one dimensional on offense with a tendency to tunnel vision and he can't really defend a lick. But his athleticism/motor and general court sense means when he's out there he's still productive, which means the Kings would do best to hold onto him for now and hope to increase his value if that's at all possible.
The only way I can see this changing is if Bagley's off-court drama starts to turn the season into a train wreck. They've lost 2 in a row since that tweet by Bagley's dad and it's been dominating the local Sac news for the week. To add yet another wrinkle, Fox's dad tweeted for the Kings to trade Bagley as well. Invariably this is not good for chemistry of course.
It is also interesting that under Walton's lead, 2 of what were once thought to be core players for the Kings future have echoed desires to play elsewhere in Hield and Bagley. Perhaps the Kings could be tempted to trade Bagley if it meant also getting off of Hield's contract and issues, and the Mavs would actually have use for both of these players. But one has to ask is it worth the risk to bring in a guy who is seeking a much larger role than what he's in and would be motivated to play for himself, and who thinks he's better than he is with loud parents? I admit I'm not so gung-ho looking at it that way. Though if it nets us Hield, I honestly could care less. Hield's camp has gone radio silent since Bogdon was let go and his starting spot returned, so I'm not worried about his attitude and I've written many thousands of words about how well Hield would fit here.
Needless to say this is definitely an avenue the Mavs could go, but if the Kings know any better they'd stand pat and stay the course.

yea, I suggested this trade during the trade window pre-season on another board. Tobi was looking like a negative asset back the and there was this possibility that Philly could fall in love with Timmy's shooting. With Tobi being this hot right now, there is little incentive if any for Them to go for it.
What we need is a four and he would have fit like a glove. Yes he is overpriced but we are not likely to be a repeater tax team before that contract expires.

If they had any sense they'd fire Walton.

Are we allowed to sign Barea again after waiving him?

Brunson+Powell for Bamba+Aminu
Magic are winning without both of them.

Was thinking exactly the same thing.
Doubt the Magic mail it in this early, but one can dream.

Yeah Bamba was a high pick, but what has he shown since entering the league that makes you think he’s the guy to go after? Especially using Brunson who may be one if the few trade pieces we have to make something decent happen if he can play well.
And I agree they aren’t going to mail it in now, need them to go on a big losing streak.
