Indiana usually likes to have players. I don´t think you can talk anybody into Powell. Batum was the only chance for that.
Oladipo + Turner for THJ + Kleber + Brunson + Green + Johnson, maybe throw in another pick.
Mavs wouldn't do that. It appears that Turner is a negative asset because of his contract so you aren't give up assets for Turner. I wonder in fact if they would use Dipo to get off of Turner's contract.

How was Batum a chance for that? We didn't have 9M available in cap space which Hornets needed to sign Hayward
Also, why pay 3 or 4 assets for a negative one (Turner) and a player who can leave in 7 months?
This is awful trade for the Mavs IMHO

I don't think you can as that would certainly cause THJ to replicate his performance for last night. He needs to be the 3rd option on the floor. He was terrible last year off the bench.

That seems kind of expensive if you add picks. I'm coming around on trading Maxi but I don't think Oladipo or Turner are the answers. I really don't want Dipo in the locker room.

I don't know about that one. Turner is the 62nd highest paid player in the league and The Athletic ranked him somewhere between 62 and 80 in its recent player ranking. I suspect Indy would expect a pretty good return for Turner. I think the questionable value is the Dipo rental.
The age old question is still one of fit...mainly defensively. Can Turner and KP play together? Is he that elusive guy who can spread the floor, guard AD in the post and take on scoring wings on the perimeter when teams go small. I'm beginning to think that guy is more of a "unicorn" than THE Unicorn.

Turner's reasonable contract and the absurdity of returned value in recent trades makes me think you are right.
As far as the perfect pairing for KP, I keep thinking of Dwight Powell analogs as that seems like the Mavs goal. You'd want someone super athletic that can rim run and finish around the basket and someone that would improve on Dwight's rebounding, defense and outside shot making ability. That doesn't really feel like Turner to me. His name comes up a lot around here but that really feels like Aaron Gordon.

So for what it's worth I was listening to the BS pod this week and Russillo said that he asked some execs if they were tire-kicking on Turner and they were like "what, no?" (I am paraphrasing). It is interesting that Boston didn't want him essentially for free.
To your question ya it's a good one - can Turner and KP play together? If not then the Mavs wouldn't pursue. Right now Turner is having to guard the perimeter more when he plays with Sabonis. I am interested if I can get Turner in a pure like dump situation. I am not sure whether the Pacers are there quite yet but honestly they might be. If you send back Johnson they might be good with that simply bc they could probably find a better fitting player via some other trade (such as one that sends out Oladipo) or wait until the offseason to get a guy for MLE.

Who are you thinking could be that improved version of what Dwight Powell brings?

Again, Aaron Gordon. Gordon's all around better of course but I'd categorize them in similar buckets.

Gotcha well I am all ab Gordon if Mavs can (or want to?) get him.

Here is a trade that works
Pacers Receive
Al Horford
Tim Hardaway Jr.
Jalen Brunson
Pick Compensation
Dallas Receives
Victor Oladipo
Miles Turner
Gorge Hill
OKC receives
Dwight Powell
James Johnson
Pick Compensation
OKC saves almost 20 million, gets draft compensation, plus young player
Indiana adds defensive big that compliments Sabonis and is under contract
Technically he is Miles Turner but better defensively and Hardaway Jr is a rental expiring contract to fill Oladipo

Call me terribly impressed with this one. Saving OKC money and getting a pick or two makes them comfortable. How much draft capital Indy needs would seem to be the hang - up that could slow the ability to make the deal.

I would be good with some kind of Horford, George Hill trade if Mavs don't like their FA options.

I actually love this trade. We'd probably need to add Green or Terry as well for sweetener. But I'd give up firsts easily if it nets us 3 great rotation players with all-star upside.

Every player that Indiana receives is an Indiana type of player
Well done

This trade somehow reminds me of the trade we pulled with Washington that brought Butler, Stevenson and Haywood..

Technically he is Miles Turner but better defensively and Hardaway Jr is a rental expiring contract to fill Oladipo So, I like this trade a lot. I would think JB doesn't need to go to IND since they have Holiday and Brogdon as their floor generals. OKC might want him though as a rebuilding piece. Maybe switch JB to OKC and they get less draft capital while sending most of the draft capital to IND? Something like:
Pacers Receive
Al Horford
Tim Hardaway Jr.
Figure out 2 firsts from OKC
2 seconds from DAL
Dallas Receives
Victor Oladipo
Miles Turner
Gorge Hill
OKC receives
Dwight Powell
James Johnson
Jalen Brunson
2027 DAL 1st
Might need another player to IND since that is reportedly what they're looking for and they are pretty much sending out arguably the two best players in the trade maybe Green or Terry to IND and take away the couple seconds from DAL? That would be a team ready to compete after this year IMO, and if the players integrate well, they would compete this year!
Luka/Hill/Hinton
VO/Burke/Terry
JRich/DFS/Iwundu
Turner/Kleber/Bey
KP/WCS/Boban

As long as we're posting fantasy trades, here's my dream:
https://tradenba.com/trades/KeReqSQGS
New lineup:
Luka / Oladipo
Oladipo / Burke / Terry
JRich / Green / Iwundu
Gordon / WCS / Powell
KP / Turner / Boban
Regarding why Indy would want to get rid of Turner, I think they don't especially like the fit with Sabonis/Turner together, and Turner is overpaid for what he is. He'd be overpaid here too, as KP's backup, but that's how you get a guy like Oladipo(assuming he shows himself to be healthy).

I am not sure how iffy Indy is toward Turner, but there is the semblance of a lot of smoke...
Looking at that latest trade, IF Indy wants to save $12 million in year one they can take Powell and some draft compensation instead of Maxi in exchange. IF I am running Orlando, I would certainly try to get Maxi in exchange for Gordon if Dallas is (apparently) open to moving him.
I really like what the trade nets for Dallas but I am not quite sure I want to make that level of trade as far as the rotation goes...
Looking at this roster post trade Luka, KP, Powell and a WHOLE lot of new guys might not be the way to move during the season.
This trade does accomplish my open roster invitation to Courtney Lee (hello Bird Rights) and possibly brings back JJB. Probably a fair trade as far as how much I am struggling to like it.

I am about 90% sure Lee's rights were forfeit when he was released.

His current Bird rights were indeed. BUT, if he doesn't sign with another team in the interim and then finishes THIS season on a regular (not 10 day) contract he would regain those rights for the summer of '21 - and that is my goal
