$76.4M (without Richardson)
If the cap rises to the projected $112.0M, we are pretty much bang on the Giannis max with a Trey Burke trade.

If we traded Powell and Maxi we would be able to get Giannis even with JRich's cap hold.

So many options for next summer to make the final move(s) even without using Giannis. They set this up perfectly for 2021.
Don´t even want to think about Gallo or Hayward on 20M+ long-term anymore. That would have been so the old Mavs.

Also one big benefit of all the Mavs expiring contracts is that even though it means they can just sign Giannis outright, that doesn't mean that's how they have to do it. Sign-and-trade would also be an option using players like THJ, Maxi, Brunson, etc.
Really the hard part is convincing Giannis to leave and come to Dallas. If they can do that, they'll be able to get him. If not, they have other options.

Just thinking out loud...JRich's cap hold is $17mm. I think the team would be better off getting him to opt into his $11.6mm and then doing an extension that overpays in the out years.. It is close, but I think you can trade Powell and S&T Hardaway and get to the $26.8mm match number for GA and retain Maxi.
So, KP/Giannis/DFS/JRich/Luka would be your starters and Maxi, Bey, Green, Terry, Brunson and Burke would make up the rest of the roster. You'd want to operate over the cap and do things in the right order. If so, you'd have the MLE, BAE and minimum slots and you would be hard capped (but it shouldn't be an issue). I think the primary bench would be Maxi/Green/Brunson/Burke. You'd really need Green to step up and you'd probably need a 4/3 type to replace Johnson using the MLE.
Edit: BTW, did I mention that Duffy is the agent we'd be working with regarding the extension for JRich?

Can we just skip the season and get straight to 2021 FA business.

It´s a little bit funny that yesterday everyone was telling me that this is not about Giannis but now we basically have a thread about Giannis and potential ways to add him.
Let me play along. It seems that some of the MLE guys would prefer a multi year deal.
@"DanSchwartzman" could the Mavs create the necessary capspace if they sign a guy like Crowder for 3/20. Make no further moves and waive Powell if he isn´t able to bounce back from his injury.

I think it about 2021 FA which they have huge hopes for, but not just Giannis.
Even if Giannis extended contract last night,I think we still keep cap space

Yes, but probably not. If you follow the logic of my post above, the opt-in and extend gets Dallas really close to the number if Powell is traded and Giannis is a S&T. We don't know exact numbers on the cap, Terry or Burke yet which is why I say close.
To get the extra $6mm for Crowder you have to move on from another $6mm. Is that Maxi? How about DFS plus Green? In other words, I think the cost of who you would lose if GA says yes isn't worth the benefit you'd get from Crowder.
EDIT:
I want to change my answer. I'm focused on staying where we are regarding max space at about $33.6mm. We are there now. Crowder at $6.6mm could be done on a multi year and the S/W for Powell happens to also be $6.6mm in savings. So in terms of pure cap room in 21 it would be a wash (all this assumes Crowder will agree to the 3/$20). So, yes, there is a path to Crowder 3/$20 while retaining cap room for GA.
The JRich extension strategy becomes more challenging in that you have to S/W Powell AND give up some salary for someone you presumably like. Not impossible though.

I like to think of it this way. Dallas is a better team now than it was to end the season. So that's a win. But beyond that: You know how Milwaukee went all-in on keeping Giannis? Dallas (and Miami) went all-in on attracting him. Now Giannis gets to choose.
The difference is the downside. If Giannis chooses to stay in Milwaukee, Dallas's options are wide open for other ways to improve the team. And I have no doubt that other good players will be more than happy to come play with Luka. But if Giannis chooses Dallas, Milwaukee is completely hosed for the foreseeable future while Dallas is signing long-term contracts for championship banner manufacturing.
So enjoy the present and be optimistic for the future. Dallas has a high floor and almost no ceiling right now!

I think this years results matter for Giannis. Meaning that further additions that improve the record are helpful. I don´t think a guy on a multi year MLE contract is unmoveable. Even if the Mavs need to clear a little bit more capspace they can easily do it. Getting rid of Jackson and Wright was a lot easier than some of us thought.
What is more interesting for Giannis? A 60+ win team in Milwaukee, A team that just made the NBA finals or Luka, KP and max capspace? Difficult to tell but it wouldn´t hurt if the Mavs would also win 50 games and/or at least reach the 2nd round in the playoffs.

Be careful, we didn't get rid of them. We exchanged them for 15 mil of salary. If you would want to get rid of them, it would cost you at least a FRP

This would be a great path forward if possible. But isn't there a limit to extensions where you can only give 120% of the previous year's salary? It seems difficult to overpay him enough in the extension years to make it worth opting into only $11.6mm.

Of course it is. If you want cap space this year, you can't take expiring back. This is what we are talking about.

This is now the final roster (I am not counting Barea)
Luka, Brunson
THJ, Burke, Terry
Richardson, Iwundu, Green
DFS, Powell, Johnson
KP, Kleber, WCS, Bobi
I was really happy with draft and trade. I guess we expected more from FA, but we did get a couple of value contracts. Team looks very promising on paper, let's see how it will look in reality. We have great depth at wings now and defense should be much better. Hopefully bench guys will play well to increase their value. From here on, the only focus has to be on improving the starting unit. I think Richardson will be great and I would like to keep him. While their is a possibility a trade happens, I guess main focus will be FA, which will be crucial. I will assume there is no Giannis in 2021 FA.
I still think we need better secondary facilitator and defender to replace THJ in the starting lineup. OPJ, Oladipo look like the only credible options in the UFA class. White is an option in the RFA. If we don't target them, I guess we can just keep THJ (assuming Green improves slowly). Trent or Hart are poor man options, perhaps Anunoby. Duncan Robinson should get an honorable mention.
The second position we could upgrade is the big wing (PF). Again I would look for offense and defense. At the moment there are two very interesting PF RFA (if they don't get their extension) - Collins and Isaac. One is defensive beast but can't stay healthy. The other is a huge offensive talent and should look great next to KP.
