The Magic probably thought they had that with Banchero or Franz. Nope. The Mavs have an extremely difficult team building road ahead of them with no pick of their own '27-'30. But at least they have the bedrock to work with.

He can ask all he wants. If necessary (meaning the Mavs can get something that will help to build around Flagg in a 3-5 year window) they should drag him kicking and screaming. Cleaning the house is probably the top priority for a new GM. Kyrie won't be a relevant contributor when the Mavs hopefully return to contending status in a couple of years. Can either let him play next season and hope that he recovers some of his value before a trade. Or trade him earlier. But it's in the best interest of the Mavs to maximize their assets and that includes trading Kyrie.

I don't see a team dealing for him unless they know with 100% certainty that he's on board. He's behaved himself with the Mavs, but teams haven't forgotten what happened in Brooklyn.

Even in that scenario he is a good salary fit for various bad contracts the Mavs could absorb to generate future value. Orlando for example overpaid Suggs big time. They probably would love nothing more than getting out of his contract. Mavs on the other hand shouldn't be scared to trade for players like this if they get a fair compensation. And that's just one example. It's kinda weird that people like Presti but when I propose stuff that is very similar to his approach when he build OKC they aren't interested. If the Mavs want to rebuild they need to embrace it. With all the things that go along with it.

When Mosley gets fired, we should give Kidd the axe and swap him in and let the Luka recruiting begin.

If there is a way to acquire another good pick you have to do it.

Maybe there are more but which team needs to have a good playoff run: Cavs, Knicks or Rockets.
Cavs just seemed destined for changes. They may have missed their window. They are still really talented and they have big game James Harden to try to change the narrative. Knicks are one of the favorites to come out of the East and are still a talented team. You just got the feeling that their peak is now and could be on the downhill shortly after this year. Downhill as in solid playoff team, not contender. Rockets came into the year really positioned well, but with an older KD you have to wonder if they are stuck as the 4-6 team in the west the next several years. Good, but not West great. They have avenues to get better moving forward. They also have a hard charging coach that I don't think it built to be a coach in one spot for a long time.
