That was a damn impressive defensive rebound by Lively.
Still not crazy about any of the top 3 games today but they made plays late and looks like they will get a win. Super summer league game feel though

So I am guessing that Cuban’s son? How many years before he is in the war room making draft picks?

Wright was -13 in 13 minutes. We should keep him around in case we have to tank at the end of next season again.
Everybody played better without him.

Defensive intensity in the 4th quarter was great. Moore and Miles Jr making plays. Bench getting them back in the game. Starters closing it out. Lively and OMax didn´t show a lot but they made some timely hustle plays.
Wright IV going down might have been a blessing in disguise. Bench guards look more comfortable (Miles Jr, Jelly Walker) with the ball in their hands. Allowing Hardy to play his usual score first role.

This aged well.

Fun 4th quarter. They really worked. I don't make any judgements in summer league but a few minuses of the guys I care about:
Hardy- stats look pretty good besides shooting, but got the summer league game type scoring. I really want him to feel like the best player on the floor in summer league. Not quite there when his offense isn't cooking.
AJ Lawson- Shooting is his swing skill. He will need to shoot better to be an NBA player. Small sample size though.
Omax- Shot looks pretty smooth, but a little slow. I think he is going to be a low # shooter. Similar to Josh or DFS. Should get a lot of open looks. If he can hit open shots, he is going to make a ton of money in the NBA. Still ways to go though it appears.
Lively- Still really raw. The rebounds were nice. I thought the defense was a little subpar, but I am not sure if that is all on him.
Mike Miles- As advertised, he is great finishing at the rim. Ball sticks to much with him though. I like points who move the ball a lot. Hopefully that is something he learns in the NBA.

Really just need OMax shooting corner threes from the moment he wakes up until he goes to sleep everyday before the season starts please.

OMax covers an incredible amount of ground. He has a chance to be a pretty good player, a little better than DFS. I feel like he’ll be able to guard every position and is already the best perimeter defender on the team. I have high hopes that he’ll earn regular minutes this season. In fact, I’m hoping he starts with Grant as the team’s forwards.
Hardy was kind of messing around I think working on stuff until the fourth quarter. Whatever he does is fine. Just don’t want him to get injured.
Lively is raw as hell. He made an impact despite that, basically falling into about 10 rebounds. Most of those he kind of fumbles or grabs below the rim, though he did have a couple of nice clean ones up high late in the game. My unconventional training technique would be to put him in front of the JUGS machine for like 45 minutes per day to work on hand eye. If he could get to even average NBA big man hands, he’d be a potential starter. He has a great motor though and seems coachable, so I’d still buy a little of his stock.
Some of the other guys actually played better than the SL Big 3 tonight, but I don’t really see anyone else who should have a roster spot.

The first 25 minutes of the game tonight was pretty putrid. Basically horrific all around. Some great flashes but overall you can forget about it.
Then Moore, Jelly, and Hardy all seemingly woke up, Lively and OMax continued their hustle, and before you knew it the Mavs stormed back like crazy.
The shot selection for the first half from Hardy was awful. Then he started to get others involved which only opened up the game for him. He drove to the basket and started to convert. Then his shot started to fall. He still somehow ended up with 24 points. Still, pretty dissapointed from his showing today. Hopefully he takes it as a learning lesson and comes out stronger.
Lively is still really raw. His defense ranged from "kinda bad" to "great' throughout the game. Sometimes he contested well and PHI still made the shot. Sometimes he didn't contest at all and PHI made the shot. But when winning time came around he locked in and his presence was massively felt. He grabbed several clutch boards that helped seal the game. Its obvious he is dependent on good guard play. I couldn't count how many times our guards couldn't spot the easy lob window to Lively in the short roll. Gives me hope next to Luka (and some chemistry) he could carve out a niche role next season as long as his physicality is honed and he doesn't foul like crazy.
OMax is the real prize to be honest. His defense and activity was incredible throughout the game. His ability to cover space is immense. He literally just eats up passing lanes. He had 1 play where he seemingly got beat then somehow blocked the 3pt shot out of nowhere??? He literally makes me go "how can he do that on defense" multiple times a game. He's very jittery both offensively and defensively. He probably is going to be called for traveling a bunch next year with how he counts his steps. But these are all things that can be worked out through development. None of his threes landed, and his shot release is pretty slow. He needs to get that skill up to snuff if he wants to make it in the league. But if he does? Sheesh he can really be an impact player day 1.
Taje Moore gets the MVP of the night to me. Braxton Key could be runner up. Both guys were integral to the Mavs even being able to come back.

More min on the way!
When the head coach is taking to twitter letting everyone know OMax and Lively are going to get more minutes. Pretty strange but cool.

Summer Mavs coach Jared Dudley mentioned that Jaden Hardy wasn't listening to play calls and dropping his head. He attributed a halftime talk from Shammgod for turning around Hardy's play.
"I thought [Jaden Hardy] played terribly [in the] first half. He wasn't listening to the play calls, dropping his head, going too fast, turning the ball over. [Shammgod] had a good halftime speech. I came in to follow him, talking to him about slowing down, making the right reads [and] that we were going to score enough points."

First time seeing Jelly Walker. He looks exciting. But he is so small. Cuban after the draft mentioned he was similar to JJB. I don't see that at all. I think Miles is a little closer to the JJB prototype.
Nice game by Taze last night. Just show you how good these guys are. Taze probably will never sniff an NBA roster spot.

Omax switched and then boxed their big man right out of the lane to clear space for Lively to go high for that rebound. Such promise there...

My favorite possession of the game. If he can do this against NBA guards he is already one step ahead of other elite rim protectors that are getting played off the floor in the playoffs.

How I saw it was Jaden tried to get into a pissing match.
I believe it was Smart from Philly was really trying to go after Jaden early in the game. He is fighting for a spot. I believe he has been a two way before and probably scratching and clawing for another contract or camp invite. I think Jaden tried to force some stuff to go back at him and nothing was falling for him. You see these type of personal battles in summer league often.
