I don't think CL would be an upgrade over THJ and due to his need for the ball and suspect outside shooting, i don't see that the "luka effect" is applicable to him. so i would try to include Charlotte in the deal
Cavs get THJ
Hornets get CL, Bullock & Bertans
Mavs get Hayward & Rozier
Cavs get more shooting and a slightly better fit with their guards
Hornets clear a ton of money (around 5-6mil this year and almost 30mil next year)
Mavs get better defensively, better playmaking and helps their books.
not sure if Jordan is in for the tank like that but maybe LaMello and CL are a decent fit and Bullock is the type of defender/shooter they need. idk.
For this year and the sake of continuity
Luka/Rozier/Frank
SD/Green/Hardy
Hayward/(vet buyout guy)/Pinson
DFS/Maxi/(vet buyout guy)
Wood/Powell/Javelle
next year you can move SD back to the bench and start Rozier as i feel they might be the better fit to start considering Roziers defense. Also, hopefully you can move Hayward to the bench by signing a real PF or promoting Maxi and DFS can start at the 3.
Luka/SD/developmental/young pg
Rozier/Green/Hardy
DFS/Hayward
Maxi or signed player
Wood/Powell (if they keep him and lets be honest, they will)/Javelle

Levert-Hardaway is fair and we should do that trade. For all the reasons laid out. Build up Bertans, Bullock, McGees value too then trade them over the summer. Re-sign Wood and have the option and financial flexibility for Levert
Let’s say Wood says no to 2 years…
GSW: Wood and Levert
DAL: Draymond, Divincenzo
CLE: Hardaway
Makes a lot of sense for all 3 teams

Mavs get Hayward & Rozier Oh man, if we have to take on that much salary (and help them save that much money) PJ HAS to be included. If the rumors are true and they are looking to bring Bridges back, they don’t need PJ either.

Those all feel "Meh" to me. Of course, Bullock is super meh.
I would much rather buying low on a guy with perceived upside. Cam Thomas or Cam Reddish. Both may be better in theory than on the court, but I am so tired of limited sort of win now players. Lets take a gamble.

Really curious what it would take to include Okoro. THJ/Frank/our two seconds for Lavert/Okoro?
If you can get Okoro added without using Bullock then it gives you a lot of weapons to use this offseason. Bullock(cheaper buyout)/Okoro(expiring young player to test for a year)/first round picks is a good cap relief plus a young player plus draft capital. Much more powerful than what we could offer today. Plus we could always keep Okoro of course if we feel he’s a good fit.

I am not interested in any of the moves unless they increase our asset base or make us a clear contender. I think LeVert decreases our long term asset base and doesn't make us a contender.

As Killer said, both would start imho.

These are the options:
1. Trade him again. I think we can agree this is basically close to zero possibility. If Mavs don't want him (just want to flip him) without having something already lined up, it makes no sense to trade for him in the first place. Realistic option here is a three team deal, which is of course a totally different conversation.
2. SnT - Mavs don't control him and he can go wherever he wants. SnT is a very long shot and even if it would happen, the compensation would be minimal (and it would likely include Mavs eating some salary). I don't put much hope in this option. See Brunson
3. Keep him. As I said, my opinion is, THJ is a better long term fit if Mavs manage to get that star player. They will get creation from that guy and shooting will be more important.
4. He walks for nothing. Mavs lost THJ and his contract. Cuban saves, Mavs have one contract less.

Bullock and McGee for Terrance Ross and Chuma Okeke
Okeke is a solid Maxi replacement. Ross is THJ insurance.

And how many picks? Orlando would be giving up two by far best players in this deal

None. Orlando is trying to lose. Both of those guys have fallen out of the rotation in favor for younger guys like Hampton, Banchero, Suggs and Fultz.

If a team is trying to lose, it doesn't mean they are giving away better players for worse ones... On worse contracts...

Lets say each of the players below is available for an unprotected FRP:
- Bogdanovic (Detroit)
- Turner - it is basically his choice where he wants to be next season, I doubt Indy can get more than 1 FRP. I doubt anyone would pay unprotected FRP for a rental
- Poeltl
- VanVleet
- Kuzma
Outgoing salary is any combination of Bertans, THJ, Bullock and Powell.
Can you see Mavs becoming a serious contender getting any 2-man combination from the list above?

Reading through the comments about LaVert, it almost seems like "better ball handler" (relative to Hardaway, that's true) is being interpreted as "can play PG".
For perspective, I'd say LaVert is a less of a PG than Dinwiddie is, and Dinwiddie is already a stretch at that position, imho. I think it's possible that LaVert can play as the second smallest player on the floor in some lineups, sure, but I wouldn't say we can think of him in a three-way rotation with Luka and Dinwiddie.
If they traded for him, my guess is that they'd view him as the starting 3. He's basically a really poor man's Paul George. There are some advantages to replacing Hardaway with him, for sure, but also some disadvantages, and I really don't think it would solve the "what do we do without Brunson" problem. It would add another player to the mix who could dribble, so that's good. But my feeling is that here, that would manifest itself in the "better at attacking closeouts" way rather than the "we can run sets through him" way.
If I'm wrong about any of that, my opinion of the trade would improve drastically.

Here's another one who could be helpful for the Mavs.
