These are the right questions. We don't know the answers, but as you say, hopefully the Mavs do.

Lavine is basically the best possible version of the THJ archetype. Knowing how THJ performs next to Luka I think the offensive fit would be great. But it wouldn´t really address the defensive flaws. Would require additional moves to retool around both.

All over Vanderbilt if the price is right. If it’s just one 1st it would have to come down to how protected the pick is. I’m sure ever team is going to ask about Green and Hardy and I’m going to assume they don’t include them for anything less than a star. Personally, I wouldn’t move off Green unless it’s a bonafide Superstar coming back. Guy like Beal don’t fit in that category. Not too interested in Lavine. The knees scare me. Also, Chicago signed him to a huge extension and now hes disgruntled. Not a good look. Love the talent but too many red flags. I’m all over the Siakam, OG, Vanderbilt ideas. I wonder if the “powder” talk is just an endless troll at this point. It’d be funny if it wasn’t so plausibly the most Cuban maneuver imaginable. He gets to keep kicking the can down the road and avoid paying more tax than he can afford.

Man...Lavine is super smooth on offense. But the knee and contract...I would rather just keep THJ. A plus to THJ also is that he handles himself professionally on the court, in the locker room and off the court.
And I am a big fan of moving off THJ. I just think Lavine is expensive with questionable defense. I would prefer to acquire someone with no known injury concerns while Luka is on the clock. Another knee issue with Lavine and he might be unmovable.
Love Lavines offense...but Im going conservative on this one.

Wow. A new record for people disagreeing with me. No way the majority could be wrong right?

To be fair, Lavine was wasting away as a bench player for the Wolves for the first half of his career and then got stuck on a middling Bulls team that has only been good for 1/2 a season.
But you make a good point. Is he really a losing player or a victim of circumstance? I will say his offensive repertoire is exactly what we need next to Luka, and his catch and shoot numbers are good enough to make me prone to say yes to almost any deal without hesitation.

The positive to Lavine is that if he didn't work out, short of injury, I think he's an asset you could easily recover from.

Not only that, I think next to Luka he'd shine. He could be flipped down the line for a lot of assets if the fit isn't great.

Same thought we probably had with KP. There are a lot of ways this could go where that contract ends up being an albatross.

The idea of Zach Lavine is tempting.
I’ve probably watched 4 or 5 Bulls games. Opposing commentators have said multiple times “old Zach Lavine would have dunked that. You have to wonder if he’s still recovering from off-season knee surgery.”
He’s as big of a risk as Porzingis.

Get the gears turning up there fellas and imagine the potential of having an absolute freak complete offensive player to help Luka.

I understand the need to add another high-level scorer... but it depends on me, and taking into account that we have the best offensive player in the world... I would pay + for the best defender possible... thinking of Anunoby. ..
Bullock/Hardy/+2 unprotected FRPs for Anunoby/Porter.. ..

Why do I get the impression that Mark Cuban would not be willing to spring for ANY of the creatively-constructed deals originating from this board?

I think its important for the FO to push back on the idea of us being easy “Marks,” and I’d draw the line at Hardy for a guy like OG. I’d rather try to involve a third team if they don’t want Reggie or whatever salary we send. Some contender would probably give up a couple seconds for Bullock, even with his depressed value. He’s still a “3&D” guy on a good contract. I’d include Hardy for a top 25ish player like Siakam or maybe Beal (who has a huge salary to match.)
Love OG but might just say 2 unprotected 1sts and a couple seconds from the 3rd team is where we draw the line. It also depends of course on how much we love Hardy. If they truly think they have future Beal-lite then make him off limits except for a guy like Shai. I don’t see Jaylon Brown as a viable target but he’s an obvious no brainer too.

There is a lot of talk around a Collins, Kuzma, Crowder 3-way. The deal has some issues. It is difficult for Washington to take on Collins without being hard capped. And, a one-for-one Kuzma/Crowder deal isn't quite legal. A couple of other thoughts...Washington probably isn't going to retain Rui this summer whether they get Collins or not. And, a roster with Beal, Collins and KP can't really afford a $13mm backup center in Gafford starting next year.
The idea here would be to insert Dallas and make it a four-way. Gafford has been mentioned as a logical piece for Dallas and would be a nice defensive anchor to the second team if we presume Wood continues to start. Rui is a tryout, but he does temporarily provide some PF minutes while Maxi is sidelined. I've got McGee as outgoing to a team that knows him. Frank is salary filler, but it could also be Pinson.
Washington Sends: Kuz, Gafford and Rui and Gets: Collins/Frank
Phoenix Sends: Saric, Crowder and Gets: McGee/Kuzma (there are versions of this that work with Reggie or Powell as the outgoing also)
Atlanta Sends: Collins and Gets: Crowder/Saric (Atlanta has NG's they can cut)
Dallas Sends: McGee/Frank and Gets: Gafford/Rui (in the version where you send Bullock to Phoenix instead of McGee, Frank could stay)
One of the first issues for me is McGee back to Phoenix. They are the winners here in that they are getting Kuzma for guys who basically aren't playing. Biyombo expires this summer, so having a solution in hand for the next two years isn't the worst thing in the world. Atlanta is getting two expiring deals for Collins with the opportunity to retain Crowder with Bird rights in the offseason. Washington is going to lose Kuzma for nothing this summer. They get someone who theoretically fits well next to KP. Dallas is getting a Rui rental/tryout while Maxi is out and solves their backup center dilemma by dumping McGee and relieving the need to keep Powell this summer.
This also takes some of the pressure off of dealing with Wood. Gafford can start if Wood isn't here with Powell/Maxi off the bench. Rui could be the backup PF to DFS. But, if Wood continues to play well and is retained as a starting center, this is how I'd see it:
Wood Gafford Powell
Maxi Rui Bertans
DFS Green Pinson
THJ Bullock Hardy
Luka SD Walker

You must be Cuban.
Nobody can love Dwight Powell that much, believe McGee is actually tradeable (for upgrades too) and think Luka wants to tie himself to this franchise until he´s 31 years old.
