Do we seriously expect Kyrie+AD+LBJ be able to play 35+ mins a night for 82 games and be competitive in the playoffs?
Kyrie not playing is still better than Westbrook playing. Westbrook no longer has anything to offer. But Kyrie is still in his prime, is healthy, and the COVID politics are dissipating. It’s an all upside move for the Lakers. They would be giving up practically nothing for him and they’d be in the same boat with the rest of the roster either way.

I think this was meant as a piece of hyperbolic humor, but honestly...I think there's some truth to it, lol.

My buddy is a massive GSW fan and brought up this idea when the KD trade demand broke. It's hard to argue against GSW being able to return the best assets. KD only being able to win with Curry would probably eat is soul.

LeBron loves Luka so I'm sure he'll give Kyrie a call and tell him to be on his best behavior during his time in Dallas.

If Andrew Wiggins is part of a KD back to the Warriors trade he officially becomes one of the most hilariously weird career arcs ever

That has a chance of working. I STILL would be worried if I were the Lakers, but their franchise player is 38 - they really need to make desperate moves.
Kyrie Irving with a 23 year old Eastern European player with whom he has nothing in common and probably doesn't really respect all that much? Bad, bad idea. I mean, I am 100% positive that Irving respects Luka's game, but come on...he's still a kid. And, playing in DFW? Kyrie? I'd say you're going to have a bored and disgruntled Irving before Christmas, and he'll find a way to completely let the team down by missing a ton of games, as he has for basically the last 5 seasons. There is NO chance of Luka, DFS, Kleber or any of Dallas' team-first guys influencing him, while there is significant risk, imo, of Irving having a negative influence on Dallas' 23-year old superstar, who is likely still extremely impressionable in some ways.
Oh, yeah...they'd give up assets to do this act of terrorism to their own team. And oh yeah, it's 99% sure to last only one season, at the most. They'd wind up without Irving, without what it cost to acquire him and without a championship to show for it. Worse off than they are right now, with Doncic a year older and with a lot of new ideas.
I cannot stress enough how bad of an idea I believe this to be. Irving is an INCREDIBLE player, no doubt. Please, Mavs, I am begging you to let him get his attention somewhere else.
Agree with everything you have written above. However Cuban is still the owner. He is infatuated with star power than do what it takes to patiently build a solid team.

The guy who you quoted here, saying "Sources: Regarding a Kevin Durant trade -- the Nets are informing teams to get creative & add teams into a potential trade to fully maximize the return for KD. Nets re-touched base with a few teams over the last 24 hours -- Boston, Memphis, Dallas & Toronto" is the same guy who told us a week ago that Dragic-to-the-Mavs was a done deal. As it turns out, that was BS.
His timeline is just a slew of obviousness, of what has happened (as just reported by the main outlets), plus a few supposed insider or scoop-type posts that tend to be wrong.
Take all that as you wish.

Kind of what I suggested in the first line of my post.

Isaac Harris suggested that Coby White for Dwight Powell straight up might be a fallback for Dallas, at this point.
Would that satiate our blood lust?

If necessary. I trust that they are looking for some radical roster changing moves, but you dont make a move just to make one.

I imagine we would have to send something else out with that? At least a second. Coby White would be more useful than Powell, but man he is a sieve on defense.
