Think we should hold our horses on fantasy trading THJ.
200 min: Luka + Brunson + Bullock + DFS + Powell = Net Rating 11.7
95 min: Luka + Brunson + THJ + DFS + Powell = Net Rating 12.3
Let's not forget THJ is a guy who can single handedly win a playoff game or two and the Mavs now have depth if he's not making shots. Personally I hope he makes it back for the postseason, especially if Bertans can't get his shooting on track.

Right there with you.
Maybe it's just recency bias on my part (as in not recently seeing THJ brick 5 shots in a row like Bullock seems to love doing) but I'm pretty confident that THJ is the better overall player. Bullock is better defensively, but not as much better as the group think here declares daily, imho. The gap on offense is much wider, and in favor of THJ.

I think Bullock plays winning basketball despite being a streaky shooter. Mavs are probably stuck with THJ for one more year so Mavs will prob find a use for him. I still don't think he will return to the starting lineup bc his defense is so terrible.

I don't like the streaky shooting we have seen from RB, but he is a positive on D almost every night regardless of how he is shooting. I take that over THJ every time.

I'm with Killer on this one. THJ is the better player. Bullock is the better fit and his contract is almost half what THJ is, but a guy that can consistently get 15+ a game on decent efficiency (and didn't fall of in the playoffs either) is more valuable than a low volume 3&D guy who is not elite D.

Fitting in THJ is going to be tough. I would really liked to see him get into a groove like most of the other players have. He probably needs to adapt his game a little. We probably need him to be aggressive but not early possession 26 foot three aggressive. If he could find a role, having another guy who could go for 25 would be interesting. He really struggled with defense to start this year. Maybe he can get back to average? I wouldn't want to dump him for nothing though. I still think he is good player, when healthy.
Him being engaged on the bench during injury makes me think we have written his Mavs obituary too soon.

Interesting. I did the same thing subbing Maxi for Powell. The Bullock lineup had a net rating of 1.1. The THJ lineup is -24.4. Minutes are only 80 and 34, so Super Small Sample Size Alert. Your sample sizes are much more reasonable.
To get a larger sample size, you can go to four-man lineups and put Luka, Brunson and DFS as three of the slots. Here is where people stand in terms of Net Rating as the fourth to that group in a four-man lineup:
484 Min. Powell 5.4
365 Min. Kleber 0.0
338 Min. Bullock 12.7
212 Min. THJ (1.6)
168 Min. KP (3.9)
55 Min. SD 17.2
41 Min. Green 25.3
If you change the date range to start at 12/31, Powell moves to 6.7, Maxi to 1.6, Bullock to 9.6, Hardaway to (5.0) in 11 games and 65 minutes and SD and Green are the same as all of their minutes in this group are since 12/31.

OKC: Hardaway
DAL: Favors, two 2nds(not like they’ll have the roster spots anyway)
OkC does it to get a vet role player for nearly free. We do it to 1.) save tax 2.) get a serviceable big 3.) get some minor trade chips

Edit: However, I will say, Favors MIGHT be a decent compromise. I have wanted him since he fell out of favor in Utah, not sure he can be that guy again, but I would like to try and see if the price is right. Him Powell and Maxi sharing the C minutes would not be a bad thing IMO. He starts to put beef with beef, then they all get situational minutes.

I like Bullock, don't get me wrong. But, this description is accurate, so far. I keep reading about how great he is defensively, but I'm not seeing it on the court.
He's better than Hardaway at getting around screens - I'll give him that. But 1-on-1? I'm honestly not sure which of them is better, defensively.

Nic Claxton could be an interesting target for the taxpayer MLE. He's got all the physical tools to be the ideal switchable 5 in Kidd's system. Still pretty raw offensively, but he'll only be 23 next year. I'm not sure if Brooklyn would match a 20/3 offer or not.

IMHO, DFS, Green, Ntilikina, Kleber and Powell are the best defenders on this team. Bullock's level of play on that end is pretty much the same as Luka (when he's trying) Hardaway, Brown and even Burke.

Don't know who this Michael guy is, but he needs an account here if he doesn't have one already.

Talk about a hot take. Come on, Bullock is definitely better than Luka, Hardaway, Brown and Burke on defense.

In terms of volume scorers, Collins would definitely fit in that category very nicely. Not sure if he will be available or what Atlanta might want for him. Mavs could offer Bullock+Maxi+22 pick, which would greatly bolster their putrid defense, at least.

The "3 and D" thing is vastly over-rated as a descriptive name. Most wings described as 3 and D are good 3-point shooters who are "adequate" or maybe pretty good defenders. If they shoot above average on 3s and can hold their own on defense, they get tagged with a "3 and D" label.
Bullock is pretty solid, pretty smart, and has a reasonable contract. His 3-point shot has inched up. He knows where to be in this system. You don't trade him casually, and you probably aren't looking to trade him. He leaves only if some other team covets him in a package deal.
I think if another team wants a wing, they are going to be asking for Green -unless they need Bullock's contract to meet the trade requirement.

Have you finally come around on Green?!

I would argue that our truly plus defenders are Maxi, DFS, Green and Frank
Our truly minus defenders are Bertans, Hardaway and Brunson
Bullock and Powell are probably on the high side of average. Luka and Din are probably on the low side.

I can go with this, other than Bertans, Hardaway and Brunson. I don't think any one of them is nearly as bad on defense as people claim.
I think Bertans has been good on defense, even. So far, at least. Obviously, this has been doled out in extremely small doses, which is fine - that's all he'll play, anyway.
EDIT: Oh, and I think Powell is uncommonly good at defending the pick and roll from the 5 spot. Like, other teams are probably jealous of the Mavs about that.
