I understand that Mark is willing to do 3 for ~$20M with Tucker. Duds, Nico, and Kidd have convinced him.

Yeah, agreed.
I'm probably much more higher on the "get behind a vet with extensive experience" spectrum than you, but Tucker is a little too old for this group, imo. It's not like he's the missing piece. They're still forming an identity. He'd help, but not for 3 guaranteed years. "Guaranteed to be useless by the end of the deal," I'd say.

Or just 2/13M? PJ gets 6 mil more than him opting in for his ~7M this year.

That does not matter. At the TDL his value is an expiring contract. Whoever trades for him wont be looking for his value on the court, they will be looking to shed future cap (for a price).

If that's true, then I see no reason a 2nd wouldn't be good enough to get a Powell for Favors deal done.
But, tbh, I'm not sure Favors really does more than Powell would here.

I love his %assisted, but Washington is an awful rebounder, 18.9 rebounding rate.

Absolutely. If he was going to be an upgrade over Powell, then that would make total sense and probably doable. He used to be a good player and makes more sense than Powell in the bruiser backup center role. I also wonder how much his play last season was due to being on a tanking team versus him falling off a cliff.

Favors has had awful numbers for 2 years now. He's NOT an upgrade for Powell.

That's kind of where I am, too.
I was extremely open to moving Powell as part of a package for an upgrade at starting 5. It's time. But now that they've managed to add that piece without moving him, part of me really likes him as the 3RD big off of the bench (second against certain teams, maybe). I think he's actually overqualified for that job, and this way they get to keep his expiring contract in play. I know Favors is also expiring, and he would probably help in some ways, but this way you still get the benefit of Powell's leadership, chemistry, etc. We know he'll be a standup guy about losing his job, and still be a positive in the locker room, that's for sure. Ultimately, I don't see Favors as being enough of a difference maker to mess with that.
But, of course, if Powell's contract was needed in a deal for someone who WOULD make a difference, I'd be all about it.

IMO the frontcourt still needs work, but moving spare parts around doesn't make sense. I would like to getting a starting PF and move DFS to SF. John Collins is probably out of reach, but I'd be willing to overpay for Tobias Harris.

Is he? I would not be interested in him unless he can play.
The idea that he would be an expiring trade chip at the TDL is meaningless, when you would be trading the very same contract to get him. I'd rather have the mediocre trade chip who can at least give you minutes in the interim (Powell), over the one who can't play.
But are we sure he is done? Or is he just on a sucky team and waiting to go elsewhere?

I am torn. His defensive impact numbers in NO were outstanding. For a stretch they had the 2nd ranked defense in the league with him on the floor. Next season he returned to Utah. They have given up on the twin tower approach so he only plays backup minutes for Gobert. Don´t think he was terrible but the Jazz bench wasn´t great.
This season he just mailed it in. Hard to tell if he just took a Horford like sabbatical or if he is completly cooked.
On a positive note. He is only seven days older than Powell and had the chance to fix some of the nagging injury issues of a long NBA career. The negative. He played a really physical style of basketball and is past the 20000 minutes mark (regular season + playoffs). Doubles Powell in total minutes played.

One thing I don't like about Claxton is that he's skinny. 6'10 215lbs. Wood is of a similar frame. He's highly athletic and raw, but he had basically free reign on the Nets. They were desperate to find ANY starting caliber center and Claxton still couldn't rise to that occasion.
The way I see it, why are the Nets more than okay to let go a role player, on a team that is literally starved for ancillary talent? Big red flag to me.

Kevin O' Conner has a rumor about the Hornets trading Hayward and Rozier for Westbrook. The obvious motive for Charlotte is saving money in the long-term. This would work straight up, but combined with the rumors of Kyrie Irving and the Lakers, it's actually pretty easy to turn this into a 3-team trade. Just send the Charlotte players to Brooklyn and then Kyrie and Patty Mills to LA.
Of course, If I were the Lakers I would rather take the Charlotte players, but then I am not Lebron wanting to play with all my old buddies.

With Claxton, the attraction is simply the type of player he is - able to play the 5 and move his feet. It would just be another attempt at finding that special Bam Adebayo type, just like Nerlens Noel was, just like WCS was, etc. It might not pan out (those guys didn't) but I'd be into taking a shot if the price was right, myself.
