To me it makes a ton of sense and is streamlined while also having good checks and balances.

It TOTALLY makes sense. It's absolutely what they should do, since Cuban isn't willing to step out of the process further. And, I agree that your conclusions are exactly what they're starting to outline for us. 

I think the resistance you're encountering is due to 20 years of resentment and (what people believe is) a collective, dawning realization that he's just not the guy we all thought he was, or that you seem to still think he is. It's not that the structure you laid out doesn't make sense, it's that many of us are finding it more and more difficult to believe it's what's actually going to happen. 

I like your version connect the dots better than my own, so I hope you're right.
