I was at the game in person last night. You could definitely feel several let downs with effort, especially on defense. We could not defend the pick and roll with no backside help. And as I said after the Houston loss - WE NEED MAXI! He is our most consistent defender and brings the effort every time. While Powel's effort was on display, we are largely playing without a true defensive center without Maxi on the court (even though he is not a true center). And once again, a DNP for Boban. Even if it was only for 5 minutes he could have provided a different look and some additional energy while KP was not on the floor.
You also have to give POP a lot of credit for this win. His substitutions were excellent and he found a way to get the effort out of a less talented team. Every time we would close the gap, the Spurs found a way to respond.
The one other concern - if both Luka and KP have solid scoring games, will the supporting cast suffer in their scoring? We definitely can't win in the playoffs if those are the only two hitting shots.
