I'm pissed off that the Mavs seem to be one of the three least successful teams when it comes to dealing with this virus. Maybe everyone is right, and it will hit everyone eventually, but I don't know. All we know right now is that they TALKED a lot during training camp about how the team who handles Covid the best will have a significant advantage, and then 1/8th of the way through the season they're one of the first teams to have major issues with all of this.
And just when things were starting to work on the court. Disappointing, imo.
I always try to stop myself from thinking: this will hurt our title chances or play-off chances or hey more playing time for rookies.
I can´t say that I´m always successful. Just shows how detached you are,in reality, from the team you love.
It´s so messed up, when you think about it. These are human beings dealing with a potentially deadly virus that has killed around 2M people world wide and seemingly can have serious long-term side effects as well.
Most of the biggest sports going right now, whether it´s soccer, american football, all the wintersports are happening outside and have more natural protection and spacing than basketball. Baketball is basically the perfect petri dish for this virus. Indoors, very close contact game for an extended period of time, with a high game turnover and travel frequency.
I think the NBA underestimated this and had a false sense of security due to the success of the bubble.
I wouldn´t blame the NBAPA one bit if they just said: Nope, this is just a fucking game, not our lives.
