COVID-19: Scrimmage games | July 23 (NBATV), 26 (NBATV), 28 (FSSW) for DAL
World population is 7.7 Billion. If the death rate is 1%, estimating it lower than the actual reported 3.5% as there are people not being tested, this means 77 million people would potentially die if everyone got infected. Since nobody has immunity this is a real possibility that most people could be infected. In countries without good healthcare as they have in Italy and China, or in countries with good but overloaded healthcare systems (Italy example), the death rates could be much higher than 1%.

75 mill people died in world war 2.

up to 100 mill died due to Spanish flu in 1918-1920.

So yes, this is super serious, and has potential to kill as many people as WW2 if we do not react fast and properly. It seems containment works in China, which is very encouraging. In Italy it hasnt worked yet but is delayed compared to China.

Slowing the infection can prevent overloading the hospitals, which means decreasing the death rate and saving a lot of human lives. So yes NBA is not important any more, compared to this and health of people.

If the death rate is 3% and not 1% it has potential to be the bigest disaster in human history more than any war previously....

It will also create a big financial decline. I hope this wil not result in conflicts and wars with more unnecessery deaths.

The key now is to do what works : containment and slowing the disease.
