BREAKING: Micah Nori has agreed to become the head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers, sources tell @TheAthletic . Nori was lead assistant of the Minnesota Timberwolves for the past five years. Nori, 52, signed a one-year deal with team options for each of the next two seasons.

How does Nori sign a one-year deal with team options for the next two seasons? That's a horrible contract for a first-time HC. That new Portland owner must really be the cheapskate that I've been hearing about.
Nori is 52 years old. He has been an assistant for 17 years. I find this completely reasonable. He probably gets paid more than he did as an assistant in the last 17 years and he gets a chance to prove whatever he got as a head coach.
That Portland owner bought the Carolina Hurricanes after they missed the play-offs for nine straight years and they have not missed the play-offs once since and just won the Stanley Cup. So he clearly knows what he is doing.
