The fact that the current MBT was thinking "it does not matter" is for me yet another reason I don't want Riccardi or Finley as GM. They just don't get it, not at the top level, when it comes to roster-building.
Once this was a lost year, the franchise had ONE JOB that was above all else - get the best possible running mate for CF in the draft. They blew it. Couldn't figure out how to max out their odds.
ANYONE with half a brain can figure out the GM decisions most of the time, but the difference is at the margins. They didn't "get it." An expert GM would've.
