In football it´s common to loan players to other leagues to gain playing experience. I wonder what the NBA CBA says with regards to NBA teams loaning out players to Europe to get playing time. It´s certainly more valuable than the no stakes G-League.
Bruno is another example and is probably ready for another try. Bonga another to keep an eye on. Maybe the careers of Larkin and Beaubois play out slightly differently, if the Mavs had send them to Europe on loan. In the end they had respectable careers as the startging backcourt of the Euro League champions.
Some players just take a long time to develop. I remember seeing an article on how few NBA rookies actually contribute at any meaningful level in their first year.
Lively is in a very small minority.
This is why bombastic proclamations about OMax not being an NBA player are so ridiculous. Maybe he is, and maybe he isn't. There's just no way to tell this soon.
...and little flashes of brilliance are no guarantee, either. Remember Roddy B?
