@517to214 wasn't lost on me that kidd was the most active and animated I've seen him on the sideline all season.
considering their next three games, I think everyone knew what a loss tonight meant.

Amongst all NBA players who average at least 5 shot attempts a game…
Dereck Lively is 1st in the NBA in field goal percentage at 73.9%
No other NBA player within that criteria is shooting above 70%
His efficiency has been incredible, and frankly being overlooked.

Luka Doncic has scored and assisted on an average of 79.7 points over the last three games. Per @ESPNStatsInfo, only Wilt Chamberlain has generated more points over three games in NBA history. Wilt had overlapping spans averaging 82 and 81 points accounted for in 1962.

Don't think Kobe belongs on that list. I think Kobe is in the Dirk tier.

Everyone from a casual fan to hall of fame players themselves will have different all-time rankings. But i think Kobe would be in most top 10 lists. Dirk will be in top 20 lists. And I love Dirk, but i think Kobe is just one small tier above him.
Kobe has 5 rings man. Top 4 all-time in scoring. Beast on both ends of the court. 2 Olympic Gold medals.
My quick top 20:
- Jordan
- Lebron
- Kareem
- Magic
- Wilt
- Kobe
- Bird
- Shaq
- Bill Russell
- Duncan
- Oscar Robertson
- Steph
- Kevin Durant
- Hakeem
- Karl Malone
- Dirk
- Garnett
- Moses Malone
- Dr. J.
- Barkley

Most people who exclude Kobe from the top tier do so as their pound of flesh for his off-the-court misdeeds.

I don't remember Kobe being a beast on the defensive end. He had a lot more help than Dirk ever did.

When it comes to things that became more popular in the last few years (+/-, RAPM or even basic boxscore based stuff like TS%) Kobe simply isn't on the same level as some of his peers. As a basketball player I don't see a case for him as a top 10 player of all time. As an icon and superstar he is probably top 5.

Both thoughts are valid, and the 2nd thought is why those against probably have a losing argument.

12 All Defensive Teams. Most all time by a guard. 9 times 1st team all defense.
That wasnt just a popularity vote either. He was an active defender.

Kobe was as close to MJ as I've seen. He modeled his whole game after him and was basically the same size. He was great on both ends. He's absolutely in my top 10 and as much as I love Dirk, Kobe is a tier above him. Unfortunately I think some people factor in Kobe's off the court stuff into their basketball rankings. I'm not ranking Kobe the person.

Kobe did what was valued at the time he played.
IMO we’re getting a little carried away defining players from previous generations based on the stats that are understood/valued today.
I mean Dirk would’ve been told to never take a long two.

I am not sure I am going to watch tomorrow, first time this season. Luka, Irving and Lively all out, DJJ and Exum doubtful.

Now would be a good time for a trade with 4 days of rest, since all key players will be out tomorrow.

WCJ already making moves to find minutes here by breaking Livelys face just before he gets traded here to be his backup.

Ouch. May need to skip as well. Can we at least get weird? No 30 minutes of Morris, maxi and Set. Onax 30 minutes. Maybe even Greg Brown. Pair the two way guard with Hardy.
The Kyrie thing is getting frustrating. I do t want to push players with injuries but he sure seems to get dinged quite a bit and is always slow to return. It is what it is though. If it happens in a playoff series though, I won’t be singing the same note.
