I'm glad he didn't join a really good team in the WC that might have been a nightmare.

Should have gotten an asset out of it. Just lazy and neglectful as always when it comes to asset management.

Wow...interesting. I am surprised he did not vouch for Mosely. Despite some shaky years coaching, I think I prefer Kidd to Mosely. I just want a new voice. Although thee are other names I hope we look at too.

We might want to pump the brakes in assuming negative motives to Carlisle’s Kidd mention.

I don't think he's that highly regarded outside Dallas.

He's been considered for a handful of HC jobs outside of Dallas already.

And never got past the first interview. It is obvious that players like him. Not sure about GMs and owners.

Really? All I hear is Billups, Kidd, D'Antoni, Udoka (went to the C's) Hammon, and a few others.

Sure but being considered for one of only 30 available spots on the planet I would say makes you pretty highly regarded in NBA circles.

This is what I was eluding to. Hey, I hope more quality assistants get a shot. Tired of the "Wash, Rinse, Repeat" cycle of head coaches.

So when RC tendered his resignation he mentioned all the great players he's worked with and notably left out Luka.
Now he says this and remarks that Luka and Kidd have a lot of similarities? Which is interesting because it's infamously known that RC and Kidd had PLENTY of clashes over his tenure here...
This screams to me veiled shot after veiled shot at Luka. Really leaving a bad taste in my mouth.

I would actually be ok with Kidd if he had some strong assistants. I think he's likely been humbled a little by not succeeding in Brooklyn and Milwaukee then going to the Lakers and being a good assistant. He would probably be insanely good for Luka. I would trust that Rick is being honest here.
As far as Rick, I think Indiana is the perfect fit for him. They don't normally get high profile players and he is the type of coach that can get a lot out of a roster and have them play over their heads. He's best when he's working with blue collar players if you know what I mean.

In fairness to Rick, I think Luka is culpable for a lot of the problems they had. He's starting to take on diva tendencies.

Nobody is perfect. But Luka is the absolute least of Dallas's problems right now.

Kidd was also known as a coach-killer in his career. Maybe RC sees that potential in Luka and knows the one guy who might be able to understand that and maybe work with him would be Kidd

I wouldn't read much into this. I believe Kidd and Carlisle have a good relationship. They may have gotten off on the wrong foot. Kidd was a former superstar who controlled almost everything on the court for most of his career. Carlisle was a veteran coach who wanted to control things. Kidd was no longer a superstar when he returned here but still thought the game differently than almost every player. I believe once they got on the same page, the relationship was good to very good.
I would also not read much into that Carlisle did not mention Mosely because he wants him for his new staff. I really doubt Rick would reduce the chance his assistant would get a head coach job just so he can keep him as an assistant. That would be rotten. It is odd he didn't mention Mosely but maybe he has heard Mosely is not a candidate or not interested. Who knows.
