Josh Green is a top 5 Mavs player...

Building on the report that there will not be a McCollum trade. I think it increases our chances of a trade centered around Nurkic and Porzingis.
Nurkic + Jones + Little + Blazers 2023 1st round pick. Added a pick, since it now seems the Blazers are committed to go ALL-IN. We gain full cap flexibility for 2022. We can trade all our future picks, cause we own a 2023 pick again. We get a 26 year old starting center. Sign Markkanen. Trade THJ to Philly for Korkmaz/Hill Doncic/Brunson Hill/Korkmaz DFS/Jones Markkanen/Kleber Nurkic/WCS It´s still no true #2 option superstar, but we now own all "our" picks going forward, maybe we can build up some trade value with the "rookies", so we can finally build an attractive trade package at the next opportunity.

I like it and I'm the camp of don't KP for nothing. But a 2023 unprotected pick opens up 22, 24, 26 picks which basically gives you 2 extra 1sts. Nurkic is solid and an asset too. I think you could take those guys and flip them at the deadline too. But most importantly you have to view it as 2 1sts plus cap space next summer. Dwight is expiring and Kleber is non guaranteed. Easy to wipe this off your books. You essentially only have Luka locked into your cap somewhere around 40 mill. Cap near 120. currently projected at 116 but I bet it goes up do to a surprise return to normal sooner. So roughly 80 mill to spend over the next 2 offseasons. Quite a bit of roster flexibility. That's a giant reset button. Of course you like alot of your guys so you probably keep several of them. But you don't have to if you have better options.

An incredibly impactful guy on BOTH ends (his presence for POR is the make and break for their D) who is also friends with Luka. He is also NOT KP. Also having the full arsenal of draft picks is HUGE. So: 1) Replacing KP with a two way guy. 2) Getting a full arsenal of tradeable picks. I'm all in.

Why would Portland do it? Their defense is already awful..:why would they want to make it worse with KP and add to their already bloated payroll plus give up a pick in 2023 when Dame might ask out before then.

Ok, so friends with Luka I like - I'm not too familiar with Nurkic, but I'll trust your practiced on/off opinion, as I usually agree with the conclusions you make about players I do know. But, what's with the picks? Did I miss a step? What makes you think KP is worth Nurkic AND a "full arsenal" of picks? Was that part of the speculation in the article?

That gives us a full arsenal of picks to give in trade for 1 or more players.

I'm not sure Portland would give up the FRP along with Jones and Nurk but that is the type of pu pu platter I've been expecting in return for KP.

Not sure why the would want to take on KP and can't imagine they would give up an unprotected first on top of everything else.

I would take Nurkic + DJJ as mostly a cap sheet cleanup move. Nurkic could be the lead guy in a committee approach. I don't think we'd get any picks, maybe seconds. It really just depends on how bad Mavs want/need to dump KP and how willing other teams would be to take his deal for basically contract swaps.
