If Lillard deems it so, KP+Brunson+Kleber+Everything in the cupboard is a competitive offer.

KP for Nurkic and RoCo.
Mavs get a real center and a 3 and D player.
Portland gets a third star in KP to join CJ and Dame.

If the Mavs had gotten Brogdon 2 years ago, they could have also signed Curry and never would have traded him this year. So we'd have Brogdon AND Curry instead of JRich and the series would undoubtedly already be over.
Not my business tho

That´s what I have been doing all the time, but DFS needs to stay. Brunson, Kleber, Porzingis, THJ (S&T), plus rookies + picks are all-in play. That´s easily enough to get Lavine, if he demands the trade now. We also always have the option to remove the protection of the 2023 Knicks pick to gain more flexibility.
My idea was to do Brunson + remove protection from 2023 pick for our 2021 pick back (21st pick) + Knox (bad contract). That way you gain a 1st round pick and you add more flexibility to the future picks. Maybe you have to throw in another asset.
Worst case you simply call the Knicks and say you want to remove the protection. They are not going to say no. As you can see we are one Doncic injury away from a top 3 pick, so the idea to remove the top 10 protection is appealing.

You build around Luka. Meaning you maintain the players that are a fit with Luka. Also, keeping players that are on high positive developmental trajectory, even if the fit with Luka is not the best always (example Brunson).
Which players fit to play with Luka? DFS, THJ, Boban, Powell. These 4 players are super fit next to Luka, he knows how to improve their game and ulitise their skills to the best way possible.
Maxi would have been here also, but have to say his game has regressed this season, he is not able to protect the rim anymore for whatever reason that is. He is shooting better, but i cant remember when he has made the last block. Rewind to last season and two season ago he was protecting the rim so well. I really dont know what happened in between.
Id trade KP and even Maxi, Jrich. We should be able to land a star player for that.

The list of needs keeps growing: rim protector, guys who play defense, shooting, scoring, playmaking. Basically all the things...this will be a big offseason.

I think something like this would be the perfect and somewhat realistic (not with the current assets but under the cap) starting five for a Luka lead team.
Luka Doncic
Tim Hardaway Jr (shooting, some shot creation)
Duncan Robinson (shooting, off ball movement)
Ben Simmons (wing defense, playmaking, solves the trap issue)
Daniel Theis (defense, screens, hustle, some spacing)

That would be incredible. Fun to think about.

Not everything needs to be fixed in one off-season, but you need to have a damn plan.
1. Rim protection.
Trade Porzingis for Turner (provided a clean bill of health). 9th in DRPM. Rim protector sorted.
2. Shooting.
Sign Markkanen. Shooting sorted. Look how much everybody improves playing off Luka.
3. Defense.
Sign Isaac Bonga. In 2019 he was 22nd in the league in DRPM. In 2020 he was 6th in the league in DRPM. Last year he was catatstrophic in limited minutes, but that´s the kind of player you need to catch before he blossoms. He is still only 21 years old. Also was a 6´7 PG in Europe.
Acquire Gary Harris or Eric Bledsoe (on expiring contracts) in a THJ S&T. Both are at the stage of their careers offensively, where they can probably be retained at a huge discount next summer, but they are still plus defenders.
4. Scoring/Playmaking.
The obvious play is Lavine 2022, but that also includes asset management. If there is a bad contract to take on for next year and contenders are willing to pay for Kleber and Brunson, you do it. Obviously there is no absolute guarantees (with Lavine) so you need to stockpile asset for the next disgruntled superstar. We need a war chest, so when Lillard loses his patience for example, we are ready to pounce. Otherwise it will be use on the short end of the stick looking at Luka demanding a trade in 3-4 years. This kid has 4-5 championships in him, if you give him two All-Star partners for the next decade or an All-Star and a DPOY candidate.

For Mavs to get Lauri they have to give up something. The biggest thing is trading KP to get some usable players in here.

I think the Mavs could get Lauri for free. Mainly because he's not good.

Orlando has fired win now-coach Clifford, which means they are clearly going into a full rebuild.
Wonder whether they´d be interested in Powell/Richardson/Terry for Harris.
Financially it´s an additional commitment of one year of Powell for Orlando, which gives them the 31st pick to tryout.
For the Mavs it creates a better financial situation for next summer and an above average defensive guard, who is still fairly young, could get healthy and rejuvenate his career.

Harris was a good prospect but injuries seem to have ruined his career.
