Currently shooting .387/.313 2pt/3pt on a Houston team where he is expected to provide scoring. I think Dipo is moot anyway bc he is likely going to land on the team he wants to resign with anyway which is unlikely to be Dallas.

Almost newsy:
https://twitter.com/espn_macmahon/status...5793053697 Full quote from Tim McMahon: "And Porzingis heard his name pop up in the trade rumor mill. Although Mavs owner Mark Cuban and coach Rick Carlisle publicly declared that the team had not engaged in trade discussions regarding Porzingis, the perception among executives around the league is that he is available." Source: https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/3097...half-hopes. The news part is that Tim is acknowledging that execs believe KP is available. He is the first Mavs writer I am aware of that has said this.

Feels like Tim gave the story some background on why it was important that KP is showing improvement. He used the word perception and that could mean almost anything and then followed with the word reality. Major step backwards blah blah blah.
Tim, who was low key click baiting got irritated with NBA Central for full on click baiting, using his name. Now Cuban hates him again.

The KP saga is the most entertaining thing this season (sorry Jalen).

Apparently Atlanta is fielding a lot of calls for John Collins. If you're Dallas, do you make the following trade?
Dallas trades Josh Green, Tyrell Terry, James Johnson, 2025 1st round pick (protected) Atlanta trades John Collins and Danilo Gallinari Dallas trades 2 young assets in Green and Terry, draft compensation and an expiring contract in Johnson Atlanta sheds Gallinari's contract off their book. Okongwu steps in and takes Collins spot Dallas roster: Starters: Luka J-Rich DFS Collins KP Bench: Brunson Burke THJ Gallinari Kleber Powell and WCS rounding out the bench. We're stuck with Gallinari for 2 more years at a hefty price tag. Cuban would have to go into luxury tax to keep the team together, but I think that's a very deep and talented roster. Wasn't it Dan that pointed out something about having 3 max rookie contracts on the same team being a no go? I think that's the biggest barrier to not getting Collins, unless KP (or Collins for that matter) is outgoing before Luka's contract comes up.
This is an interesting proposal:
Mavs: Ross, Bamba Orlando: Green, Johnson, 2 second rounders Ross might be a bit redundant from the bench as our only two bench guys are guards (rest of the bench is crap). Bamba would be worth a flier as a third big. I might even consider Aminu instead of Ross. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2934...st-benches

Would giving Collins a dollar less than max solve the problem?

I would do Ross and then whichever of he and Timmy was hot that night, gets to play.

Missing the playoffs, especially the expanded play in format, for a third year will make some seats uncomfortably hot. Doesn't mean I wouldn't like to shake Collins loose, but I don't think a couple of rookies and another FRP in '25 will do it though.

Yeah, unless the offer will be too good to reject, they are keeping him till summer. Might consider SnT than. Paying him max is quite a big overpay, imho. If I remember correctly, Bamba was good in college due to his length, but was considered pretty raw as a draft prospect. I think he spent a lot of time working on shooting skills before the draft. Don't know that he plays much now though or whether he has developed any of those skills. He certainly fits the "Luka Timeline" though.

They are not playing anyway, so who cares if they remain warming up the bench Mavs are basically playing 7 man rotation with cameos from Burke, Johnson and WCS/Powell. Two centers will expire in summer anyway. Powell will likely remain on the team. This is 100% not an issue with the Mavs, even if they added Collins. Luka will end up in this category. Collins cannot. And KP is not in this group. Plus, there are always workarounds if you need them.

I think he would be a perfect fit here. I would give up a rookie asset + expiring to get him. His scoring would be big.
