Quote: GS is spilling the beans.
Sacramento-Milwaukee-Minny are working on a blockbuster three team deal with Middleton, LaMelo Ball, Harrison Barnes, Bogdan SnT, Bledsoe, and Culver as a filler.
Middleton was made available to Atlanta, Chicago, GS, and Minny but Minny is the only one where they found the terms to be reasonable.
Holiday to MIN is unlikely as he wants to go to a contender. GS doesn't like the terms for Holiday and Ball would have to also be there. GS likes Wiggins and they think he's an asset and not a major liability which other teams don't agree.
Boston is aggressively pursuing more depth and they are targeting Tristian Thompson in FA. This is looking to signal an end to Gordon Hayward. Larry Nance Jr. Is seen to be a trade target for Boston and several others like Dallas.
Brooklyn will have to move LeVert plus Dinwiddle to land Holiday. NO is not desperate to move Jrue and he wants to return to New Orleans.
Another Post from the Hawks Insider.
He mentioned Middelton again, haha. I call BS on the Bucks trade rumor, sounds like really hard to believe. Trading Middelton for that ???
Minny -> Middelton
Bucks -> Barnes / Bogdan / Lamelo Ball
Kings -> Bledseo / Culver
like that?

I only saw Middleton against Dallas, but I was never really impressed. He is a weak number two or good number three on a contender, imho. Overpaid. That being said, I also don't see Milwaukee trading him, unless someone there thinks LaMelo will be an absolute star in the league. Middleton and Bledsoe are arguably two best players in that trade. Minnesota is not sending any salary out and they don't have enough cap space for Middleton. Add Johnson and I think it works - I guess Milwaukee can still take him in that hypothetical.
I think Milwaukee has a serious PG problem. They want to move on from Bledsoe, but there really aren't good PG available for him. Since they like playing Gianis as point forward, player like Oladipo would make sense for them. Would it really be so difficult to find a third team to take Bledsoe if Indy doesn't want him? He has his offensive shortcoming, but he is still all NBA defender. Atlanta could certainly use such a defender next to Trae, for example.

I am not saying Middleton will be traded. I doubt it, actually. We know from Cuban that 99% of things discussed don't happen.
But, it's honestly not that crazy to imagine these talks.
What do WE think Giannis needs? A PLAYMAKER! Isn't that the whole crux of our wish to get him here in Dallas? Well, let's assume the Bucks understand what he needs as much as we do. I'm sure they've kicked the tires on every available playmaker out there, from CP3 on down to Desmond Bane.
What if, financially, they feel like they NEED to drop salary to take on salary? Like, forget the cap rules, for a second. I'm just talking about MONEY. Guys, Milwaukee is CHEAP. They always have been, and they always will be, and I don't care what they say in the media about being willing to spend.
If you were in their place, and you had decided you had to trade Middleton to get better, would YOU rather do it for Chris Paul, or do you think you could talk yourself into the idea that this Ball kid might be the next Luka? Wouldn't it feel like less of a shortsighted move, as long as the kid could play?
Again, not vouching for this, or for the guy...but, honestly, I can see it.

That´s really not doing him justice. He was 3 made FGs away from having a 50/40/90 season. 21ppg on 62% TS. Also a plus defender. If you think that he is a weak 2nd option the same appies for guy like Klay Thompson. Not to mention that he was a way better than KP last season. The super teams in recent years really changed the narrative but it´s not normal for a team to have two 25+ ppg scorers plus a 3rd option that averages 18-20ppg.
He was the 2nd option on a contender in the last two seasons. The Bucks struggled in the playoffs but I think that is more about Giannis not being a good half court scorer/creator. Middleton wasn´t great but Bledsoe and Giannis not being able to shoot made it nearly impossible for him to create of the dribble/drive. Forcing him to take a lot of long and contested shots.
After Giannis injury this year he was hopeless but at least managed to steal one game with a clutch 36 points performance.

If the Cleveland Cavaliers trade center Andre Drummond, it reportedly isn't likely to happen until during the 2020-21 season.
According to cleveland.com's Chris Fedor, the belief is the Cavs' best chance to move Drummond would be at the 2020-21 trade deadline.
Drummond is expected to exercise his $28.7 million player option, as he said back in June that he would "definitely" do so.

Sure, if you take into account whole season. However, once KP shook the rust off, he was better. Of course Middleton is more durable.

If you are wanting Giannis to become a free agent or ask off of the Bucks, I think you love that trade.

Agreed. I think it will blow up in their faces if it happens. But, that's because I wouldn't touch Ball with a 10-ft pole, and if they are among the teams who like him, I can see them talking themselves into it, potentially.
THIS SITUATION THAT THE BUCKS ARE IN RIGHT NOW IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU BECOME AN OVER THE CAP TEAM WITHOUT HAVING ENOUGH TO WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP. You are looking at the Mavs' future, if things don't break right for them over the next couple of years.

I actually think that is good value for Middleton/Bledsoe. Especially for the Bucks. Middleton's contract is huge - in the same way that Harris' contract has been viewed here. The Bucks get the creation that they lack while not sacrificing shooting. The only downside of that is that they get a bit worse on the perimeter defensively. Being the number 1 defensive team in the league, any trade will make them worse there. But they are really bad creating offense, and this trade really moves the needle in that area. Another thing is that it significantly affects their window! Bledsoe/Middleton are 31/29 with their two other non-GA starters older than that. This brings in Barnes/Bogi who are 28 and a young piece to build into the future - no matter what GA decides.
Now, I don't know why they spend that pick on Ball, but that was the way that the deal was presented. But the #1 pick in the draft, Barnes/Bogi is a heckuva ROI for Middleton/Bledsoe.
I like the Kings side of this too - especially if they are also doing business with Philly for Hield. They will have an amazing young core - Fox/Culver/Bagley - and add to that players that are really good defensively - where they struggle. This is actually a VERY non Sac trade! lol. (which is a compliment).
Which brings us to Min... Trading Culver/#1 overall pick seems super steep for Middleton. I don't even know if that COULD work with the cap unless they send more salary out. But it isn't crazy to think that they do it to speed up their timeline vs waiting on another pick while KAT counts his days until he can move on.
If that works out, I could see the case for each of these teams making the trade. But as proposed, it fails the cap rules test.

This must be why the escrow number came in lower than I thought (18%). How inconsequential are fans in seats if not having them doesn't affect the revenue that much? wow. Tickets/merchandise/concessions/parking/luxury boxes? Turns out it is all about TV money and sponsorships. Who knew?

"According to my sources, rival teams believe that Westbrook can be acquired via trade"
According to a recent report from ActionNetwork.com’s Matt Moore, the Mavs are interested in three big names who could be moved via trade this offseason.
Quote:“Specifically, there is thought to be interest from Dallas in Indiana Pacers guard Victor Oladipo, Brooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie and New Orleans Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday,” Moore wrote. “All indications that they’re looking for a wing upgrade to pair with Doncic.”

We haven't discuss this one so much. Not really a stellar defender and bad three point shooter, but only geting to his prime. Worked extremely well with Nets but is redundant with healthy Kyrie (like that ever happens). He has expiring contract and might demand a huge paycheck after next season. Brooklyn will certainly have a trouble keeping him long term, if they care about tax at all. I think we would have to eat Prince contract to facilitate the trade. He had a dissapointing season but there is some potential.
Brooklyn would have absolutely no intention taking our crap contracts, they are here to win it all. They need shooting and they need defense. I think a guy like Kleber is perfect for them. I guess Curry, Kleber and DFS are guys that would look great spreading the floor for their stars, just as they are in Dallas. I think them three and our #18 would be a fair value based on player quality. However, based on the player fit, I don't think Mavs would get better doing this. Perhaps Kleber+THJ+#18 or Kleber+Wright+DFS+#18? Perhaps it would be easier as a third team facilitating Jrue to Nets?
All in all, I actually don't really mind Prince, I think he can be much better than last season (and he wasn't really awful). He would kill our flexibility to an extent (although not if we let Dinwiddie walk after the season). I am more affraid about Dinwiddie fit on the team.

Wow. I am not sure what to say about that trade. It is really bad. You highlighted it - he can't defend and can't shoot. If they get value for him, it is from a bad team looking for someone to take shots - which he does, albeit, inefficiently. Dinwiddie isn't a good player. Hard stop.

With all the rumors whipping around, I just hope the Mavs don't get left out of the feeding frenzy like last year, or end up doing something we regret.
If you can't hit any home runs, then just draft un-dumb at 18, use 31 to move Wright for an expiring contract (if the guy can play, that's a plus), sign a one-year guy with the MLE, add a couple of undrafted free agents or vet min guys, and work on internal improvement. That's better than anything involving crap contracts that run past '21.
I brought it up a few weeks back and no one responded - what if the Mavs could attract Mirotic to return to the NBA this year?
