I don't see getting mad at Gobert. He was being a dumb kid, which I could easily imagine myself doing. The direction of public disourse these days is to jump on wichever one of us makes the mistake as if we personally aren't the ones' that make the mistakes at times.

The thing with Gobert is he probably spread it more by talking than touching anything. even though he is being shamed for the way he touched those mics. But the NBA had kept those conferences with another player immediately following knowing anyone affected would be spreading. No clear guidelines on maintaining distance. Players were still hugging and shaking hands as normal yesterday.
Not blaming anyone because this is uncharted territory for us all, but singling out one person for one action when nothing else was done other than ban reporters until then, is not correct.

Glad they put a 30 day notice on it to just see how things progress. Obviously if the virus slows down life can resume but we don't know when we are going to hit "peak virus." It feels like we are a ways away from the peak.

Gobert being infected is not the reason why the season was suspended. It was only a matter of time and could have been any other player.

No reason to think it hasn’t already exploded. Not very many tests. Seems very likely that death rate is 1% or lower and the discrepancies are caused by misunderestimating the undiagnosed. That’s not to minimize the issue. 1% of 150 million is a lot of people.

World population is 7.7 Billion. If the death rate is 1%, estimating it lower than the actual reported 3.5% as there are people not being tested, this means 77 million people would potentially die if everyone got infected. Since nobody has immunity this is a real possibility that most people could be infected. In countries without good healthcare as they have in Italy and China, or in countries with good but overloaded healthcare systems (Italy example), the death rates could be much higher than 1%.
75 mill people died in world war 2. up to 100 mill died due to Spanish flu in 1918-1920. So yes, this is super serious, and has potential to kill as many people as WW2 if we do not react fast and properly. It seems containment works in China, which is very encouraging. In Italy it hasnt worked yet but is delayed compared to China. Slowing the infection can prevent overloading the hospitals, which means decreasing the death rate and saving a lot of human lives. So yes NBA is not important any more, compared to this and health of people. If the death rate is 3% and not 1% it has potential to be the bigest disaster in human history more than any war previously.... It will also create a big financial decline. I hope this wil not result in conflicts and wars with more unnecessery deaths. The key now is to do what works : containment and slowing the disease.

I am ok with the shut down to prevent spread but this everyone is going to get it the math does had up and it causing panic.
there are 11 million people in Wuhan only 80000 in all of China go it, so even at ground zero it did not effect everyone.

yeah, it doesn't make your cases credible if you draw conclusions based on math that assumes 100% if the population gets infected
