I think it's pretty cool that due to China's overreaction to Morey's tweet that China is now receiving more pressure (via U.S. citizens pressuring the U.S. gvt) about how they deal with Hong Kong.
Regarding the rest of your post I think that if I responded to it I'd just be retyping the way too many words that I've already typed :-)

So this is great if China pulls back a bit and follows the rules and timeline they agreed to.
But it seems like a lot of people are behind the idea of a full breakaway. China would prefer to just completely crush the island before they would let that happen.
No outside country could really stop that either.
Insightful stuff I think. Yeah, I don't know that the rest of the world should be pushing China to allow Hong Kong secession. Not only would that probably not end well, it would feel to China like the original taking of Hong Kong all over again. One Nation, Two Systems, is probably the best that Hong Kong will be able to do.

Thanks to hakeem's and fifteenth's apology. I do sincerely appreciate it.
I do want to address one thing from an earlier post, lumping me in with the demand for Kerr to comment on China. My point was always consistency and hypocrisy.
I don't need Kerr to speak on ANYTHING political, ever, really. Some don't hear me demanding that he speak because I care what he thinks and need it.
What I don't appreciate is inconsistency. You alluded to this later, which is only being "woke" (my terminology choice) when it doesn't cost you anything OR, which is a bigger pet peeve of mine, to use "virtue signaling" as a marketting tool to increase yours or your team's or the NBA's brand...which is what I think most of them are doing. I think if the largest market share of money changed their values to the opposite values tomorrow, as in say a war happened and then it was all about owning a gun and standing for your country, the NBA would be literally running and leaping legs spread wide to wrap themselves around the NRA and pose with an American flag and a weapon.
That's my point...and LeBron is kind of proving it, sort of. They are only woke when it makes them money....if it takes enough money away, they back down. It's just a matter of a figure, not a value.
CAVEAT OF FAIRNESS: The only real reason that I can see this not being about money would be if Kerr and LeBron are concerned if their comments might cause retribution to come onto former NBA players who are playing in China or current players like Klay Thompson who have deals with Chinese businesses.
In America, the league carries enough power, but in China, you saw last weekend, that the Chinese will just say "forget you, I'm out" and in 4 hours it will be massively different. If that were to happen here, the NBA would be changing their tune also. If they are worried that the Chinese will start treating Americans in China like the Turkish government is treating Enes Kantor and his family in retribution...I can see them not wanting to say anything.
At the same time, that sound you hear is the water bubbling up through the hole in their "WOKE BOAT" as it sinks along with their credibility.

This is the type of stuff that is happening... True Jesus Church in China worth 1.4 million dollar building was demolished by the Chinese government, for basically...just being Christian. The CCP is arbitrarily wiping out places of worship all across the country, imprisoning pastors and leaders indefinitely, and executing others.

Gonna be a crazy civil war when the majority of citizens ever get tired of living under that.
No telling how many millions will die.
But hell they seem more unified than we do at the moment but at least we have greed holding us together

A communist totalitarian government is strong arming an American company for not agreeing with its ideals. NBA should just walk away.
It will hurt in the short-term but long term the NBA doesn't have to appease censorship. It's a slippery slope. If you let China dictate what you can tweet, then what's stopping them from pulling the same stuff if lets just say Lebron said in a press conference that Xi was awful and China is terrible?
I wish the players would just say what they want anyway. What is the NBA going to do, silence LeBron or Harden? They need their stars and its pretty clear what side of the issue the western democratic fans are on here..
And here I was thinking that if players did choose to comment on it they would at least recognize Morey's right to say what he wants.
LeBron of course has that same right, but even if he didn't feel comfortable commenting on China, it would have been so easy to just say Daryl is an American. He has the right to say what he wants. So, Daryl Morey is certainly entitled to his own thoughts here.
Adam Silver looks like a profile in courage now.

My whole point of view is players either don’t say anything or say it all. They are picking what to speak out on only as it pertains to money. If it helps they talk if not they go silent. They created this platform to speak up so thats my beef is now they are letting China silence them, cowards and hypocrites. They want it both ways but it doesn’t work that way. They are as greedy as those they railed against. Its disgusting to me how fast they folded to the dollar.

We are all hypocrites, just some more and some less. Those who have the means to make a difference would rather go into business with China like the NBA or Bron. Nevertheless we still watch the NBA, although this is just an entertainment product we could easily walk away from to take a stance unlike clothes, food or certain electronical goods.

My hope is that Silver's statements help to just breakoff the NBA's business in China.
