"A source tells Berman that the Knicks may also be able to land second-round selections in exchange for Allonzo Trier and Wayne Ellington, who have both fallen out of the rotation."
How about one of them? Additional shooting never hurts. Trier has some skills we don't have, if he could be controlled. He is still young.

"Young star". LOL. Always fun to see the media carry LeBron's water when he inevitably starts shopping teammates.

Although Marcus Morris recently claimed he didn't want to be part of a trade to the Los Angeles Clippers, the New York Knicks forward has also reportedly gained interest from the Philadelphia 76ers, according to Marc Berman of the New York Post.
The contending squad reportedly sees the veteran as a "solid two-way forward bench piece," per Berman.

I want Morris, but I have a sense he doesn't want us. Can't believe we're still the bridesmaids with Luka, KP, and our record.

He didn't want SA either, so there is that too. That incident soured me on him anyway, low character and aggressive is not a combination I think will mesh with the guys we have.

I am going to lose it if they give up the Warriors pick for a 3 months rental of Iggy.

Yeah, the last time the Mavs acquired an old washed up 37 year old it didn't work out so well in the playoffs did it.
Er, wait, what?

Er, wait, what? Because they gave up a probable low second rounder to get VC for 1/2 a year.

Los Angeles Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma is being mentioned as a potential trade candidate, but he reportedly remains in good standing with LeBron James.
Per The Athletic's Sam Amick, James is still "supportive" of Kuzma amid the trade talks and the recent situation on social media involving Kuzma's trainer.

To each his own. The Mavs signed VC for three years when he was 34. Most people said he was a crusty washed up vet. But he took and made one of the most iconic shots in Mavs history, a playoff game-winning buzzer-beater vs the hated Spurs.
So this is actually a fun hypothetical ... rewriting history: If the Mavs had to trade the 31st pick in the 2014 draft to get Vince Carter, would you have done it?
It turns out the 31st pick was Damien Ingles ...
So, iconic playoff win or Damien Ingles? ... Easy, right? You take VC and the win. Ingles was a scrub who never played in the NBA ...
But what if I told you, the 2014 2nd round held some hidden gems...
Joe Harris, Spencer Dinwiddie, Jerami Grant, Jordan Clarkson, Dwight Powell and NIKOLA JOKIC
So, do you choose A or B:
(A) Vinsanity and his iconic playoff game winner vs the Spurs
(B) Keep the 2014 2nd round pick, so no VC and no iconic moment, but you do have a 1 in 6 shot at a rotation player & 1 in 30 shot at an MVP-caliber player

"The one NBA player who is most likely to be traded within the next week is Justin Patton. With the Thunder a mere $750,250 into the tax and Patton’s deal non-guaranteed, the stars are not aligned in the young center’s favor."
Patton has been injury plagued but he was the 16th pick of the 2017 draft. He's a big with high motor, shot blocking potential and developing as a shooter. He's a project, but one with high upside. He'll be traded to one of the 9 teams with an exception, the Mavs being one.
He's 7’0″ with a wingspan of 7’3″ and 9’3″ reach. Defensive acumen was a strong calling card. With physical gifts of this nature, Patton was projected to become a rebounding rim protector with the ability to move and defend.

Wow I don't think I've seen a player be so blatant about wanting out.
That sequence right there made me think of Love a lot differently...

I've permanently purged all of the Rondo games from my memory with the help of my friend Jack and his cousin Bacardi.

At the time of trading for VC, we wouldn't have known the outcome of the playoffs, just like we have no clue the outcome if we were to get Iggy right now. If VC was saying through the media that he doesn't want to play for any team outside Cali back then and his contract was up at the end of the year, is it smart to invest one of the best trade assets we had at that time to get him for the 3 months? I don't think so, many others agree, looks like you don't, I don't think it's all that unreasonable to have the opinion we have.
Also, we signed VC for 3 years when he was 34, when he was 37 (like Iggy is now) we didn't re-sign him and he didn't have any heroics in the playoffs with the Grizzlies. Apples to apples.
