I used to vow never to tank. The very term is--just feels wrong to me. So now I think the Mavs need to make a strategic reversal and reorganization. An SRR. Damn...I wish there was a better acronym there. Something that sort of rolls off the tongue. SR&R?
Anyway...if we--SR&R--we should start with the coaches, but certainly not end there.
And quit trading off all the damn draft picks...

How about the One-time Organizational Panic Strategy (OOPS)?

If the tank involves a new coach and owner, it might even work.

The real question is: Who are they trading 23, 25 and 27 for this summer?

If they keep 23 then 24/25/26 are off limits until the pick finally conveys to NY. But I'm all for 23+27 for OG. It's hard to think of many players that are actually available who would be worth both picks.

You can do next available pick wording to get around this yes?

It seems like that might have to be some type of handshake deal, but I could be wrong. If next available is in 24, is that considered trading two picks in a row? Maybe if you draft for the other team in 23 and trade the player you can get around this? I'm not sure.

There is zero point in trying to make the playoffs at this point even though I don't think they could make it if they tried. I'm hoping they told Luka and Kyrie they are done for the season.

Ya think if the Mavs won the first pick they'd actually pick Wemby?

They should.
But Cuban probably trades the first pick for Siakam.

What's the magic numbers for the Mavs to keep the pick?
I know they shouldn't fall below pick 10.
But what could be the safest record for the Mavs to pick at least at number 9?
How many more loses they need?

Let’s just lose them all to be safe

There are 13 games left. Looking at the schedule, going 3-10 is a real possibility, with 2 wins against SAS, 1 win against Charlotte, and losses in every other game.

I fear we would have to lose out to make sure we have a solid chance in the lottery. Getting the 6th worst record is probably the best case scenario, in which case we are almost guaranteed a Top 8 pick and have a chance of close to 30 per cent for a Top 3 pick.
To have a very good chance to keep our pick in the Top 10 we need to finish with the 9th worst record.
Would be a bold move, but if everybody had the understanding that can’t win big without defense and capable interior players it would be the right thing to do, wouldn’t it?

I think 2-11 is a lock, 3-10 likely gets you there, 4-9 would be cutting it real close. Losses to the Bulls and Lakers should be mandatory. The problem is not to miss the play-in, but to finish below some play-in teams from the East, too.
We play the Spurs on the last day of the season, so if we are lucky and they are locked into their lottery odds, they might actually play for a win there. Meanwhile the Bulls (2nd last game) might also be eliminated from the play-in and then they are also playing for improving their ping-pong balls, because they convert every non top 4 pick. That Mavs/Bulls could be a super tankathon match-up.

I'm really asking myself what is happenning this season. Basically in the last months we could won only against tanking teams and a teams who were playing back to back. And only 1 year ago we were...
What is the reason i don't know, but Iztok Franko also mentioned (for slovenian media) the chemistry in the locker room compared to the last season. Brunson - Kyrie, Boban as the Luka's best friend is missing, DFS now, who Luka mentioned as a player with which he would like to play his whole career...
I was advocating Kidd for a long time, but i think there is really time to go. In the game there is no evidence of his work, defense doesn't exist so i'm really asking what is happened to the defense from the last year.
The next thing is sitation with Wood. I know he isn't a good deffensive player, but playing powell whole season while every team outrebouned us is also not solution.
I'm really start to believe that's becose of Brunson situation last year and he is doing this to lower his price, but i don't know if that's a good thing for the future and the messege for other player we could potentially want in the future.
The biggest concern for me is the the next offseason and the season. If we fail this i can potentially see that Luka demand a trade in the next 2 years. We are in the luck of assets and we need to improve a lot of things. And there is also an option that Kyire demand out...

Luka ruled out for Wednesday against San Antonio.
Kyrie, Wood, THJ all questionable.
The tank rolls on.

Kidd's comments definitely read a bit differently if you think he's trying to tank the last bit of the season when everyone's injured.
If that's the case then I might need to give him a little bit of credit for being the fall man...
AH who am I kidding? We all know Kidd can't plan a tank that well.
