I’m confident DFS is going to cook when he gets back

Outside of Luka, I can't think of someone more deserving of a rest. He still needs to find his way in the post-Brunson world though.

Poku averaging 9/5/2, shooting 37.6% 3pt FG with 1.6 BPG in 22 minutes.
Bertans averaging 4/1/0/0/0 shooting 35.7% 3pt FG in 10 minutes.
So even discounting age and contract, I doubt many teams would flat out pick Bertans. He had one NBA season in eight years that is clearly superior to Poku´s current season. One thing is for sure, he´s not high quality compared to Pokusevski.
Only players in the NBA with 1.3+ BPG and over 35% from 3pt range are Lopez, Turner, Durant, BolBol, Pokusevski and Wood.

Also, for the "only 22M left on his deal", the team acquiring him would have to play him less than 75% of their games next year. Not that SH was serious in the first place.

This shows you are looking at the boxscore and not actually watching. Poku has been one of the worst players in the league the last 3 years, with very little redeeming him. He's gonna be out of the league after this contract.

I feel like we're all forgetting this. I do not seriously expect the Hawks to trade John Collins for Davis Bertans yeesh.

Lowry is shooting 39.8% from the field and 33.6% from 3. Lowest points and assists numbers since 2010 when he played 24mpg for the Rockets. Worst +/- numbers since 2009.
Feels like a desperate gamble. But I guess that´s exactly the kind of move the Mavs would make.

THJ and DFS for Lowry and a 1st
Plan powder summer of 2024. Mavs would have both max cap space and four firsts to trade.
Someone check my work.

I think a Lowry deal for a first to restock the cupboard is a great deal for the Mavs if they can also offload some bad salary.
Don't think it's realistic though.

Another interesting question. Are the Mavs keeping the last roster spot open because they are eyeing a two for one deal or is it simply about less luxury tax.

https://www.si.com/nba/raptors/news/new-...og-anunoby
Quote:If the Raptors do swing a deal involving Anunoby, the New York Knicks currently sit as the frontrunners, oddsmakers say. New York is listed at +350 to land the 25-year-old 3-and-D forward, implying a 22% probability. A deal involving the Knicks would likely include some combination of Obi Toppin, Immanuel Quickley, Evan Fournier, and New York's multiple first-round picks.
If not New York, Dallas, Miami, and the Los Angeles Lakers all sit at +750 to land Anunoby, implying about a 12% likelihood. Both the Mavericks and Lakers would have a tough time trading for Anunoby due to restrictions on their future draft picks.
The Portland Trail Blazers sit at +850 to land Anunoby but they too face draft pick restrictions that would make a deal unlikely.
The Sacramento Kings are listed at +1,500, implying about a 6% chance they swing a deal for Anunoby.

Playing what if here, but let's say ATL's primary motivation is to get out from under Collins' massive salary. Who do we think will WANT Collins and what would they offer, in light of the contract that comes with him?
That issue might eliminate all Mavs interest too. Is Cuban really going to be willing to pony up $26M a year for so-so PF production, even if the Hawks handed over Collins for free?
To make it a pure money swap, if Mavs think Collins is actually worth $15M/year, perhaps, then a swap of Collins (owed 77M after this season) for Bertans (owed 22M) and McGee (owed 11M) gets them close to him costing them the right ballpark. That doesn't factor in IF there's some value to ATL (albeit not the contract amount) in using Bertans and/or McGee in their lineup.

I think this "lack of Brunson" issue has had an impact on player performance up and down the roster this season.

OK, according to the "rumors" these are available:
1. OG - I would be willing to to trade any assets aside from Wood. OG/VanVleet for Dinwiddie/Green/Powell/Hardy/1stRndPick.
2. Lowry - He's spent. Only go for him if we get picks and give up salary fodder.
3. Collins - I would be willing to give up anyone but Wood, Green, and Dinwiddie.
4. Lavine - Any one but Wood and Dinwiddie.
Anyone else? Thoughts?
