So, he puts Dallas 8th in West/13th overall. First, I'll be surprised if the top four he's listed all finish top four. Something always happens to someone. Second, I think the next four are fairly malleable. It could be any order among those four and it wouldn't shock me.
It's possible that I'm underrating the great Jokic, but I don't really get Denver being so high. I don't think MPJ will ever be healthy enough for long enough to be a difference maker, especially since he still has so much to learn and has been unable to improve (it's not just about being available at his current level). Plus, I think Murray is basically a less reliable Brunson. I'd actually take Brunson over him, I think. Jokic is obviously one of the best in the world, but overall I'm just not as impressed as some.
I also have a feeling there will always be something going wrong in New Orleans. They just don't seem destined to figure it out to me. As high as I have been on the Clippers, you could say the same about them.
Really curious to see if Chris Paul has anything left during this regular season. If he does, and the series end was just a temporary running out of gas, PHX will probably have another great season. If he's done, so are they, period. Booker will look much more normal, suddenly, I think.
The Mavs really might be one player away from being dangerous, which is why I've been so blue about the Brunson thing. I literally think Brunson, specifically, would put them in the conversation for home court in round 1. If they could just pick up some reasonable replacement...Clarkson, Conley, Walker, etc, I'd feel so much better.

Dinwiddie is the Brunson replacement. It’s the Dinwiddie replacement we still need.
We will go as far as Wood and Dinwiddie take us. They both need career years

It's about as great of a line as "doing a complete 360." Playing hard is a choice and a character trait. One might have a genetic inclination toward more grit than some others, but it still takes a choice to put that grit into practice by playing harder.

A large part of why Dennis Rodman was so great. He used to do a full weight room workout after games jamming to Pearl Jam.

I think talent is the perfect word, at least it is in german.
Talent is normally a special ability to learn something faster and better, that is attached to the brain-movement/brain-vision..
And playing hard is the ability to overcome fear, pain and pity, when moving.

The context of the quote changes when you include the last word:
“Playing hard is a talent NOW.”
Kidd was basically saying that not all of the gifted athletes of this generation play hard or even enjoy the game, so finding someone who does is a big deal.

I agree it is a talent. I think of Dwight Powell as an example. He leaves it out on the court every time he steps out there. He is a great teammate too. Sure, he is limited. But he was effective during the regular season, but pretty useless during the playoffs. Regular season Dwight was a positive, I believe.
I would use Dwight as an example for every young player in the league. When you are a non-star player, I think being reliable, playing hard all the time, being a good teammate, adaptable, etc can be the difference of playing in the league for a year vs playing for several years and getting a second contract.

Oh boy, here we go again maybe (I'm not sure how trustworthy the source is). There's a Bosnian report that Luka and the rest of team Slovenia got wasted before the Poland game.
https://havannews.com/doncic-and-his-gan...ock/?amp=1
Here's the original report. https://www.bhbasket.ba/otkrivamo-sloven...a-poljska/
I'm not sure how good the google translate is
Time to start setting the over/under on Luka's weight at the moment he arrives at training camp

In a bankruptcy scenario, a buyer of the RSNs also could decide to reject existing broadcast rights contracts that are too expensive and arrange for cheaper deals, sources said. With some teams getting up to 30% of their revenue from RSN rights, a prospective bankruptcy could hit team payrolls, insiders claimed.

It has been a rough ride downhill since. Sinclair’s Diamond reported Aug. 30 that full year Ebitda, or earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, would fall to between $183 million and $200 million.
Meanwhile, Diamond has $8.5 billion of debt and pays about $450 million in annual interest payments so it is spending double what it makes on just the interest on its junk-rated debt. The most junior debt is now trading at around 20 cents on the dollar.

I mean, if they were to buy out the network and the network is hemorrhaging money, how would they change that? They better hope they are better at selling commercial time slots than the people who made their living doing it.

They can start by getting carried by a wider range of cable/streaming services. Hulu, Roku, Slingbox, FireTV, would increase viewership and let them charge more for advertising. Beats trying to get well from just the ATT service.
Of course this will probably gum up the process...
Diamond has been telling the leagues in recent days if it goes bankrupt it will be able to keep broadcasting games, but will not need to pay teams their rights fees as it will have protection from creditors, sources close to the talks said.

That news came from the NYPost which is unreliable to begin with but it also makes absolutely no sense for the leagues to bail out the failing cable company. It would basically be giving those companies a huge discount to carry their games since the money that would be used for a bailout is mostly coming from cable contracts anyway.
Would love to see a streaming service beat out cable contracts next go round, it's going to be a bumpy ride until then (3 years?!?).
