If "agree" means that you think TOR has the stronger position in the negotiation, then I certainly have no argument against that. I have no idea.

Yep, bingo.
This is misinformation season. Teams and agents are telling half truths and sometimes flat out lying. Even the best "reports" have to be looked at with a grain of salt.

I think the Mavs either have some other sidelight moves up their sleeves, *or* they need to drop the posturing and just trade for Dragic. If the trade doesn't include Luka (of course), DFS, Brunson, or a future first, just pull the trigger and move on.

It really isn’t close. People seem to have forgotten how awesome Brunson was last season because of the last 4-5 games of the Clippers series.
I am a Brunson fan. My interest in Dragic isn't as a Brunson replacement, I think they could play well off each other when Luka sits. Brunson is good, but you can't ask him to run the offense like Luka. Not many in the world can do that when the other players are so dependent on him.
Both Brunson and Dragic are smart and tough. I think they would fit well together. I am not interested in Dragic if it means Brunson's minutes suffer.

I said, the other possibility is that they have something else brewing.
I respect people's right to have other opinions, but if we're talking in a vacuum about trade for Dragic or don't trade for Dragic, I think we pretty much have to do it. I'm only wrong, once again, if Ujiri is being a complete ass and insisting on DFS, Brunson, or a future first. Of course you don't do that trade. But you do any of the conceivable others.

Followil and Dameris apparently say he wants a 1st round pick.

I'm just saying, if drawing it out brings us a better deal, that what's the hurry? If they Mavs have reason to think that waiting gives them a better chance at a better deal, then they should wait it out.
This may not even disagree with what you're sayinig. Based on what you see, you think there will be no movement, so go ahead and make the deal and not risk losing out. It just seems to me like the Mavs see a reason what that's not the best play. And we don't know what all they see.

Either they cave or I'm out. No first for Dragic in any scenario.

Oh, well.
Good luck with all that TOR. You and Dragic have a great season together.

If Toronto holds firm on the first (from the Mavs), then absolutely no deal. You're punting the season with no adding playmaking, but you simply cannot give up future first for guys like Dragic.

It's a one year deal, and it doesn't work without Powell outgoing, so what's the possible issue with that? The extra $5M this year (that saves money the next)? I actually think there's a better than average chance he earns that money here, tbh. What about it, Killer? Should the Mavs cough up the first round pick?

How do you know it is a team feeding info to media? That is a pure guess on your side. I don't want to have anything to do with those kind of theories, not interested at all. I think we have way to few information to be able to figure out. I also think Stein is way better than to be used by a team/agent.
As I said, I don't see much reason why they would just buy out a player on expiring deal at this point in the season. I guess this gives Toronto a stronger negotiating position to demand more than just negative contracts like Powell and Burke. What is more is under discussion and I totally agree with opinions Mavs should not pay a FRP. Of course I might be wrong.

They buy him out of Dragic refuses to report. He made it pretty clear he doesn't want to be in Toronto.

I think this will be a buyout (assuming there isn't a trade with the Mavs). Not sure who else would want to actually trade for Dragic due the salary matching that would be involved. I don't see TOR wanting to keep him for a blockbuster either because if they make a blockbuster trade then it's going to be with Siakam's salary, not Dragic's.

I don't even know what you're talking about. Reporters ask their sources (team reps) questions. The team rep gives them an answer. If you don't like the word "feed" use a different one.

Brunson isn't leverage. This team needs someone else in the rotation to facilitate the offense.

He absolutely is leverage against the idea that the Mavs are completely desperate for another ball handler and that trading for Dragic is their only option and the Mavs should surrender a 1st round pick for him. Brunson was objectively better than Dragic last season - like not even close really.
Miami should be the ones paying up for Dragic having to land in Toronto where there’s not a logical fit for him right now. Not the Mavericks. Toronto doesn’t have to facilitate the Lowry trade if it doesn’t want to, and the Mavericks are under no obligation to make this easier for Miami and Toronto.
