So far we have covered:
- JRich with 95 % thinking he is gone
- Brunson with basicaly 50-50 split
- Hinton with 60 % for staying on only 10 votes
- Green with 87 % staying
- THJ with 65 % thinking he is gone
- JJ Redick with 100 % saying he is gone
- Bey with 70 % saying he stays
- KP with surprisingly 80+ % thinking he stays
- Powell with 66 % thinking he stays
How about the fan favorite Maxi? Will Mavs trade him or keep him?

Maxi is a great role player that was imho asked to do too much and that's why didn't look as good as he could if he would be played according to his capabilities. Good defender, shot over 40 % from three. He fits nicely next to KP or Powell. On the bad side, he is extremely limited offensively, basically totally limited to shooting only wiiiiiiide open three pointers. Even his PnR game mostly dissapeared. Works in regular season but fails in playoffs when defenses get better (I don't accept the injury excuse, it was same story in Orlando with same excuse). His defense is good but then again not special.
He is on a good contract, which is not guaranteed for 2022/23, so basically expiring if one wants. He will not have much value in star trade discussions but can have value in discussions for a solid starter.
I think he is one of the more likely to be used in a trade, so I will vote he is gone next season. I think new FO will be very active to show it made sense to replace Donny.

I say yes. He is more important to us than what he would bring back in a trade imo.
I know he was injured last year, but he has had two playoff series where he has not been good and at times the moment has looked too big for him. He had a total of 4 points the last four games of the Clippers series and at times looked really hesitant to shoot.
He does some nice things on the court, but is much better suited as a 20 minute player off the bench where he can defend and hit a few open shots and not be counted on to play big minutes.
I think he is back next year. The following offseason is where I see him being moved for that final move to fill out our roster.

I think mid season is the best spot to trade KP. Even in NY, he showed his best stuff at the beginning of the year and then petered out towards the end. Build up his value as high as it can go, scoring 30ppg with 2.5 bpg (all star appearance) and trade him for a disgruntled superstar demanding a trade (Lillard).
Of course, if he does those things, there will be no thought of trading him and he'll get injured right before the playoffs and we're screwed for not moving him.
Edit: Doh! Just realized this is the Maxi not KP thread...I'm dumb.

Of course, the team added a Würzburg clause when Dirk retired that requires the team to have at least one German player, preferably from Würzburg, at any given time.

It’s a tough one, but if there’s a trade or acquisition to upgrade the front court, Maxi or Powell will have to go. Maxi has more trade value so I think he’s moved. Plus, with Donnie gone, I see the Mavs moving off of their reliance on Euros —except Luka.
