That Orlando GM if I am not mistaken came from the Bucks so there is a possibility he would love to get KP as there are some similarities to Giannis. If am the Mavs I need a lot in return from Orlando including draft compensation to make that trade. KP is 25 and under contract RE: ROSTER TALK: Trade/FA Ideas (Mar 25 TDL) + Salary Chart - Branduil - 02-13-2021 (02-13-2021, 12:38 AM)Kammrath Wrote: Do you really think Isaac is a 1st option that a team can be built around? No, but why would that matter? He's a great two-way player who can defend multiple positions. KP isn't a first-option either if you really want to win... I can see that logic too. Just for the record, I wasn't suggesting it was a fully balanced trade idea....but that maybe the core pieces could be a foundational start to a trade. Part of the reason it is an intriguing thought exercise. RE: ROSTER TALK: Trade/FA Ideas (Mar 25 TDL) + Salary Chart - Kammrath - 02-13-2021 (02-13-2021, 12:41 AM)Branduil Wrote: No, but why would that matter? Isaac's ceiling IMO is as a 2nd or 3rd banana next to a superstar (what the Mavs need). KP's ceiling is as a first option on a playoff team (what the Magic need). I personally think KP would be better as a 1st option than he has been as a 2nd option. I think a team would be better building specifically around him, rather than trying to fit him around another star (like Luka). Just my opinion at the moment. Fultz hurt and Anthony and Okeke just learning to play. It’s Vuc and Gordon(1.5 year left, maybe they feel he will leave) that make more sense. Anthony Fultz Isaac Okeke KP Luka Richardson DFS Gordon Vuc Trade would be KP, Johnson, Green, Terry and a 2nd for Vuc and Gordon What also could make sense is a Fournier-Johnson swap. Cheap way to add depth and another guy we could re-sign Orlando and Chicago have made sense as trade partners for awhile now RE: ROSTER TALK: Trade/FA Ideas (Mar 25 TDL) + Salary Chart - KillerLeft - 02-13-2021 (02-13-2021, 12:38 AM)Kammrath Wrote: Do you really think Isaac is a 1st option that a team can be built around? No, and I don’t know if the Magic do, either. But, if it matters, I can tell you that their fans do. I did some reading on Isaac during the off-season and he’s like Luka to them, even with the injury. I know this is of little consequence in reality, but it could be a reflection of how the team is marketed and so how the team thinks. RE: ROSTER TALK: Trade/FA Ideas (Mar 25 TDL) + Salary Chart - KillerLeft - 02-13-2021 My opinion is that in a deal involving Porzingis, Vucevic and a (healthy) Isaac, KP might be the third best player. I would not have said that a year ago, but Vucevic is really showing his value this season, imo. Could be recency bias at work, tho. RE: ROSTER TALK: Trade/FA Ideas (Mar 25 TDL) + Salary Chart - SleepingHero - 02-13-2021 (02-13-2021, 12:30 AM)Branduil Wrote: For Isaac sure but why would Orlando do that If we're worried about injury concerns, Isaac is one of the most injured young players in the league. Missed 55 games his rookie season. Missed 41 games last season. Now is out for the entire season this year from a torn ACL. Just putting that out there. RE: ROSTER TALK: Trade/FA Ideas (Mar 25 TDL) + Salary Chart - StepBackJay - 02-13-2021 For the record I would do some kind of KP-Vuc centered trade. That being said I think those wishing for a mid-season KP trade are going to be unhappy. I can't imagine Mavs would trade him right now unless he is causing a lot of problems behind the scenes. If he ever gets traded it's probably going to be in the offseason and even then I am not sure the Mavs would pull the trigger. Vuc is really good but Mavs might think of it more as a lateral-type move for an older player. The only thing I could see is if the Wizards are suddenly interested in KP. It would likely take a Beal-type player to move the needle for the Mavs otherwise I believe KP is going to be here at least through to the offseason, probably longer. RE: ROSTER TALK: Trade/FA Ideas (Mar 25 TDL) + Salary Chart - KillerLeft - 02-13-2021 (02-13-2021, 02:20 AM)SleepingHero Wrote: If we're worried about injury concerns, Isaac is one of the most injured young players in the league. Some of us would look at that option, but I don't think anyone thinks it will happen in real life. Maybe if you can tell me what the Mavs can get with 2 late FRP's in a subsequent trade. RE: ROSTER TALK: Trade/FA Ideas (Mar 25 TDL) + Salary Chart - omahen - 02-13-2021 (02-13-2021, 10:16 AM)Hypermav Wrote: I know these are click bait but the Mavs need way more than this. Maybe if you can tell me what the Mavs can get with 2 late FRP's in a subsequent trade. Totally agree. Trade like this makes sense only if there is another star involved from third team or in a separate trade. RE: ROSTER TALK: Trade/FA Ideas (Mar 25 TDL) + Salary Chart - omahen - 02-13-2021 I was thinking after last night game, if Mavs really have room for a third star. Luka and KP took 51 shots out of 88 total. Ok, they were both hot and they were efficient shots. On average they take less, but still. Third most was THJ with 8. I think this affects him, he really looks shot hungry once he gets the ball. There might be too many score first guys on the roster. Even Brunson likes to take care of "himself". Luka and KP combined take nearly 40 shots on average. Out of the top 7 rotation Kleber and DFS are the only guys happy if they don't even take a shot, but of course defense leaves them wide open a couple of times a game and they shoot it. Over 10 per game between them. Brunson and THJ take their shots. Combined a bit over 20 shots per game. This leaves 10 shots for JRich and another 5-10 for other guys combined. If we bring another offensive talent into equation, things might become difficult if Brunson, JRich and THJ remain with the team. There will likely not be enough shots to go around. You would basically have to reduce KP and THJ shot number. I am not sure they would be happy about it. RE: ROSTER TALK: Trade/FA Ideas (Mar 25 TDL) + Salary Chart - StepBackJay - 02-13-2021 (02-13-2021, 10:16 AM)Hypermav Wrote: https://www.nbaanalysis.net/2021/02/12/nba-rumors-miami-heat-dallas-mavericks-trade-kristaps-porzingis/2/ Getting the 2 firsts would be pretty good. I do think Mavs could then flip those for another significant piece. RE: ROSTER TALK: Trade/FA Ideas (Mar 25 TDL) + Salary Chart - dirkfansince1998 - 02-13-2021 (02-13-2021, 10:34 AM)omahen Wrote: I was thinking after last night game, if Mavs really have room for a third star. That´s a legit question. I think Brunsons improvement reduces the need for another ballhandler. Same for THJs scoring ability. When both can combine for 30pts on an average night the Mavs are in a good spot. Personally I would prefer a more reliable 2nd/3rd/4th scoring option but the Mavs have bigger problems. I think we have seen enough examples of teams with three allstar level scoring options to know that one of them is going to be marginalized. Only exception would be a spot up shooter like Klay Thompson. Maybe a defensive specialist or glue guy would be more valuable for the Mavs. |
